It was looked at for Shogun Total War and dropped. I guess because the Strategy map/resource management was limited.
But now that Medieval has a much more interesting strategy/resource management part of it game, I find now I play this side of the game more than the 3D battlefield. As such I would love to play the game against multiply players by email. The battles would be auto resolved (no 3D battles) and the turn wouldn't end until all players had sent their emails (data, moves, whatever)in. This would mean one turn (year) could take a few days while all the players sent in their moves. I would be happy to wait for each turn and it would certainly make you think very carefully about each decision you make in every unit or building you construct. If a player left or quit the computer could take over the role and update all players with its decisions and moves. Until you have achieved the victory conditions.
What do you think...possible or do you think there is no market or player base for such a slow process of playing?
