All right, everyone. This is to be a place to post screenshots or text descriptions of the guy that succeeded in triggering the Marian Reforms for you. I am about eighty turns away currently and have a very promising young fellow, but I thought it would be neat to see what everyone else has worked with. Good luck! :2thumbsup:

P.S. This thread is mirrored on TWC

Mine died just before it was time for the reforms at 62 so I just went out and conquered 90 settlements. I felt so cheated...

Does anyone know the best way to get expert recruiter? I'm trying to get my Julius ready for those reforms but he needs this one trait. I've tried sitting in a town recruiting town watch but after 8 years it still hasn't worked. Anyone know the best way to get this trait?

Try building a larger MIC in that town.

Nobody has any pictures? I'm amazed. Well, I'll have one in another couple of days.

I am in the year 186 BCE, so a little to early for the Marian reforms. But I am preparing for them by upgrading to Villa Rustica and then to the Latifunda in Italy. By the earliest I want the reforms to be activated by 120BCE. So when I will have my Marius I will post a picture of him.

Cheers.

I had two guys, brothers, who both had all the criteria and when they turned 50 each in turn lost his popularis and nothing happened I played 20 years in this limbo and when they had died about 135BC I simply changed the number of provinces to get reforms this was in 1.0 though, I hope it works better in 1.1

Okay, not the guy I thought would trigger them, but who's complaining?

What does the Praetorian Guardsman do? I have never gotten him before. All my Romani campaigns crashed.

My dirty little secret. I reloaded several times to keep him that way. However, he survived two years after this screenshot, so I don't feel quite as guilty.

As for the Guardsman, he is a sign of Roman power, so he increases law--and personal security, I think? Pretty neat. That's not all his traits, but those are the ones that could fit in one screen.

I have done that in vanilla sometimes... Until the game forgot to let my faction leader die and he became more than 100 years old :laugh4:

First time I ever have. But the Marians were worth it. You should see the legions!

I actually had two reformators :D

They both had the same age and were both highly successfull generals. Dacicus was the first one to become praetor when he was 40 so I thought that probably the next turn he would become consule. But I had to wait some years more and then both of them were elected consule...:2thumbsup:
Would have probably been great stuff for an AAR...~:(

Nah, they're too great to be killed. But I might consider it with their offspring, so far they turned out to be all loosers...
