Hello forum members, i am new here and i got a question. Which is your most liked cavalry unit(heavy). Here are mines.

Gothic knight
Kataphractoi
Chivalic knight
Mamuluke warrior
something alligon from the byz
khazarian cavalry
Lancer
Knight hospitallers.

So here are they those are my fave, its hard to choose that which 1 is my favourite outta all of them. So send it in dudes. P.s this is not in order.

Gothic Knights destroy Lancers head-to-head.

Khwarazmian Cavalry are Kataphraktoi with the speed of horses.

Ghulam Cavalry are cheap and good, but are they heavy or medium?

Boyars baby!

Crossbow-wielding, sword-swinging, armoured and pretty fast. I faced them as the Danes and got sliced and diced. I play the Russians alot now.

Chivalric knights. They are multi-purpose unit. They're fast, heavily armoured and rather fearsome. Gothic knights are much slower though they can destroy simple spearmen.
And I like Khwarazmian cavalry. i often use them as mercs.

125 spearmen are my favorite cavalry unit. I literaly consider these guys to be my cavalry because before I go into a game I think to mysself "how many cavalry is he going to bring?" Then I try to take as many spearmen, and do nothing with them except wait for his cavalry to attack. 125 Spearmen even beat lancers! I love it when people bring expensive cavalry.

My favorites are the early Spanish Knight followed by the Norman Knight and last by the Frankish Knight. Those incredible spanish horses really add some speed to charges and manuevering. Although the armor of the Frankish Knight is good, their horses are too slow.

Spanish Jinettes.

You have to play around with the Hold Formation and Skirmish Buttons. But their Javelins score some nice kills when they hit. Their speed makes them ideal for flanking.

GKs have AP weapons. They are thus the anti-cav cavalry.

Lancers have nine armor, meaning that a GK's effective atk against a lancer is 4 + (9-2/2) = 7.

And 7/7 units beat 5/7 units any day of the week.

Actually, lancers do beat GK's once in a while, but only if they have a fantastic charge result. (GKs charge is only 4).

On an unrelated note, I don't think I've ever seen a gothic knight OR a lancer from an AI faction. And this is in late period games after mod'ing build times to half of the normal value!

Surely,it haaaaas to be Lancers and Chivalric Knights.
I love Chivalric Knights more because they're 40 man units(almost the same capabilities as royal knights) and u can dismount and make those superb Chiv Foot Knights....oohh gotta love'em.
Those guys will beat almost anything head-on(melle 4;defence 6;bonus vs cavalry and AP weapons...

i don't like heavy cavalry since i only use them for chasing a routed enemy.. Therefore I prefer light cavalry, and archer cavalry would then be best since they can first should some pointed sticks and then chase the enemy.

so far, my favorite cav has been polish retainers. a medium cav that's decently armored,and you can get them early with only a horse breeder. on a lighter note, magyar's probably pulling his hair out by now. so much cav, so hard to choose. hehe http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Hmmm... lets see...

I like medium cav more than heavy cav.

But of the heavies, I think Gothics because of their AP and the possibility of dismounting.

And you really get the feeling they are heavy because of their slow speed, it is not a good thing but it makes them feel right.
