what is vanilla mtw?

i realize this is an emberassing question but i just need to know because most mods are for 'vanilla' mtw and i really want to play a mod that adds many new regions, factions, and units.
any mod recomendations are very welcome too.

Vanilla is the original game with no mods. (whether it be straight from the box or updated to 1.3 -same thing).

Best mods with new different factions and regions are:
Broken Crescent
Stainless Steel (version depending on whether you have Kingdoms or not)
Deus Lo Vult (version depending on whether you have Kingdoms or not)

Deus Lo Vult does not require Kingdoms.. I played it just fine with my 1.3 Vanilla version :beam:

Oh.. And the FactionHeirs VanillaMod is quite good too.. It's what the M2TW should have looked like :bow:

to get technical - According to TWC, to play DLV 5.6/5.7 you need kingdoms. However if you are modded to DLV 5.5 you can play with just Vanilla.

But hey at the end of the day, an awsome mod nonetheless.

I am also sure that Factionheirs VanillaMod would be quite good as well. (although I haven't played that one yet - sorry FH, I'll get to it someday soon.)

My advice, have a good look at them all and then pick and choose, thats the beauty of there being so many mods for this game.
