View Full Version : What's the Problem with CTD's?

I have seen often here people claim they abandoned their campaigns once due to a CTD. Well, I just had a CTD in my Romani campaign for the second time, but to me it isn't a big deal at all compared to a corrupt save file or the likes. I always save often and turn the autosave on so CTD's hardly affect my game to the point I would rather give up from them.
So what's the big deal? Just save often and when the CTD comes you will just have to remake some few moves, that's it.

:gah: I suppose it's threads like this that make it seem like a big deal? :weirdthread:

Heh, wait, I think some would disagree with you :clown:.
But it's not like a big deal for me, either :juggle2:.

Well yea, it's not a big deal for you, because you only have had a minor one or two, over the whole of a campaign. Not a campaign killing CTD.

I never have CDT's ingame really...
I did have two campaigns that went corrupt. Everything worked fine, but then, when I load up my campaign the next day... CTD... everytime I try and all saves but those from eons ago.
Very irritating when it happens! I keep my fingeres crossed each time I load, because if EB doesn't crash within 10 seconds of loading my campaign, the game is impossible to crash.
If its just 1 or 2 CTDs then I just ignore it but when I start getting repeating CTDs then I quit the campaign.
People abandon campaigns for repeat CTDs caused by some kind of incurable problem. Not just for the random, one time CTD.

Bingo! Occasional CTDs which don't repeat are just a minor annoyance, and small price to pay for a brilliant mod. Hell they happened with RTW so that's no biggie.
CTDs that can't be navigated around on the other hand are the sort of thing that steal your motivation to play at all.

On the same vein if I get a CTD even a random one I usually don't load up EB right away I usually bugger off for several hours.

Only CTD's I've had are ones that got fixed by a patch really fast, or ones related to RTW.

i got a few CTDs in my Romani campaign, but they started getting more and more frequent, until eventually i gave up...
i still get some in my campaigns, but infrequently, and as someone said, it's a small price to pay for such a great mod
It destroy the continiosity(?) of the game...considering it takes a looong time to open the game and the campaign is slow going. When it crashed my nerves crash too. But I hadn't give up yet. The mod is soooo maginificently great, I can't abandon it. I mean I'm not even playing M2TW-Broken Crescent for this one....and I'm not the kind of person to return old things when I tasted new
