as the Eperios The elephants are awful!
With a army of camalian peltst? I mangled a army of Elephant inkidio:duel:
Is it me or do the elephants need some sprucing up?!

To answer your question: in EB elephants have a fairly specific role on the battlefield. They can be devastating when used correctly, but there also exists a very effective counter in the form of missile units. If you are trying to take on missile units with elephants, you are using them incorrectly. Use elephants to disrupt infantry formations and cavalry charges, and follow them up with cavalry of your own.

Peltasts and other light skirmishing troops were historically the best way to deal with Elephants and EB represents this quite accurately. Elephants are great against Cavalry, in my experience, as well as being good for breaking up formations.
