As most of you probably know, there are some files that CA left behind that were never implemented in the game. Several Historical Battles, and one campaign - Caesar in Gaul.
After a bit of searching, I found that CA actually recorded introductions with Marcus's voice for some of the historical battles, and several speeches by Victoria for Caesar in Gaul. You have to use the idx extractor to find these files.
Here's what I found:
From campaign_descriptions.txt:
Gaius Julius Caesar has been appointed Pro-Consul of Rome and Governor of Cisalpine Gaul. He is responsible for the protection of the 'Friends of Rome'. These are the Gallic tribes who have agreed to be clients of the Republic: they give up their independence, but receive protection and the other benefits of Roman rule.
The Germanic Helvetii tribe, however, are not friends of Rome nor friends of the Gauls. They have begun to move south west into the lands occupied by the Aedui and Sequani peoples, two of the tribes who look to Rome and Caesar for protection.
This is Caesar's chance. In the chaos of a war perhaps all of Gaul could be brought under Roman control. Any general who manages this would gain enormous political prestige at home, perhaps even enough to become master of Rome.
This is your chance to match Caesar's achievements. Take the Roman Legions to victory in Gaul!
From caesar_in_gaul_wip_5_regions_and_settlement_names.txt:

What I've gathered from the sound files:
The Germanic Helvetii are invading our allied Gallic tribes, Aedui and Sequani. The Helvetii captured the town of "Geneva". The Senate has chosen you, Pre-Consul Gaius Julius, to be the Governor of these regions. You must defend your allies, drive the Helvetii back, and capture "Geneva".
After you defeat Helvetii: You now control Geneva, and can begin rebuilding your army.
Rome decides it is time to completely absorb their allies, the Auedi and Sequani, and you must invade them to bring them into the "glory of rome". You must capture their cities of "Bibracte" and "Vesontio".
After you defeat Auidi and Sequani: Belgae and Nervii see what Rome is doing, and decide that they must fight now or they will be conquered just like their neighbors were. You must take the Belgai city "Samarabriva" and the Nervii city of "Aduataca".
"you now control Northern Gaul". In the west, Venetii tribe forge an alliance with the Southern Gauls and the Britains in the North, against you. You are then in a three-front war, and must conquer Britain.
Meanwhile, the Germanic tribes of "useptae" and "tentarii" see this war as an opportunity for themselves to expand into your territory. You get some "reinforcement units".
Veringetorix, the leader of the Gallic "avernii" was a "friend of Rome", but has now rebelled against the Romans. You must capture his cities of, "Avaricum", "Gergovia", and "Alesia" to destroy this resistance.
You have nearly conquered all of Gaul. All that is left is a small region in the southwest. You must take "Uxellodunum" and "Tolosa".
If anyone has any other files about Caesar in Gaul, I would appreciate it. I'm considering making the campaign myself. However, I do not have a map...
There also appears to have been a "scipio campaign", but the only file is the regions and settlement names in the text folder.
Also in the sound files are the opening narrations of several historical battles. Even more Historical Battles can be found in the text file "battle_descriptions".
Any and all discussion of these missing elements is welcome here.
