Yesterday, after getting bored playing arche selukia I decided to try a faction I've never tried before. So I tried eporos. Now I play romani heavily so I've only fought against them. I thought I'd try, get bored and quit. Wrong! I totally murdured the makedonians and the greeks. They have excellent calvary and the elephants? I thought they were useless and easily killed but they are amazing! Without them I wouldn't have managed to defeat the sparten generals. I conqured all of the peleponese with them and they don't even have one casualty! Thanks so much Eb team for such an enjoyable faction and roster. They have become one of my favorite factions!

I've avoided Epiros so far, as I thought that they'd be like any other Greek-style faction. But after that recommendation, I think I'll give them ago next campaign.

That's good to hear. Epeiros was indeed a great little nation for its time.

As the Epeiros FC, I will try to set this faction apart, based on the few archaeological accounts we have of it, using the excellent work left behind by such greats as Prof. Dakaris (Archaeology professor of Ioannina university- one of the top experts on Pyrrhos' epeiros) and a lot and others who followed in his steps.

Posts like this serve as encouragement and thank you for it.

They're one of my favourites as well. They have a wonderful set of units, and a very interesting starting position.
I tend to leave the KH and Macedonians be, and focus on Thraike instead. Lots of interesting mercenaries and local units there, and when they realize they are surrounded in the north, the Macedonioans (believe it or not) sometimes even sue for peace. I often conquer Chalkis as well, to get a foothold in southern greece and because it's fun...)

romans must have thanked phyrrus a lot.

with the epirote wars romans learned how to handle elephants so in punic wars Cornelius Scipio easily handled them.

AFAIK they used drums and legionaries warcried and made a lot of noise that made elephants crazy and even they crushed their own owners.

I cannot forget his last words on romans :
I am leaving the scene to romans and carthaginians...

He spoke those words when leaving Sicily... to be split among Romans and Carthagenians.
