recently Ive become fed up with EUIII. it seems that it was dumbed down from EU II. I recently discovered CK and found that it seems to have the depth that im looking for. But I have one problem. Vista.
In the past ive run EUIII, HOI 1, and EU:Rome on it. I just wanted to know if anyone has knowledge if CK would work on vista. I just dont want to waste my money.

It works for me on 32 bit Vista Home Premium.
And you're right, CK is deeper than EU3, if only in character terms (pretty easy to beat EU3, really, since the only characters in there are the King and advisors...)
CK and DV work fine under Vista
From the Paradox forums (http://www.europa-universalis.com/forum/showthread.php?t=368870)

The Duchy of Apulia is the one that is recommended to most people.

Bohemia is also recommended, since it's got the support of Germany at the start, is next to Hungary and Poland, and can form a Kingdom relatively soon afterwards.
Edit: CA, I also read your AAR. Very nice

By the way i found that the Duchy of Catalonia is also a good starting choice
