"A.I. isn't just about making characters that can play well. It's about making them play believably." - Tim Sweeney, Epic Games

I just found this interesting, as I for one maintain that even if MTW would be made easier by what I would term a "better" ai, it would still be a bonus for the game. (I suppose this may be a foreign debate to some people, but in the various threads that have been created about the game's AI, there is division as to just what "better" means).

I for one, will side with that quote above. I don't need the AI factions to focus on war with me incessantly, (which seems to be the design of MTW, to increase difficulty or, as some have put it, to "push more action towards the player."

I for one would like to see AI factions that spend more time focusing on their own success. This will have room to be exploited, (less stacking of huge armies on player borders, etc.), but it will also serve to make the game much more enjoyable. Especially for those of us that get bored with conquest, and that prefer to play out some role within the MTW world.

I second that.

I "totaly" agree.

Too right. Everyone would like the AI to be smarter. But it shouldn't be great all the time. There were plenty of foolish, stupid commanders the AI needs to simulate, not just the likes of Henry V.

That said, for now the AI plays the boobs pretty well.

It will also make the game go a long way and challenge old school ideas of how the ai plays in game. I for one cant wait to get my longbowman up and see some foolish french commander send all his knights right up the center http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Yes, but first the AI must be capable of posing a worthy challenge. Many argue that this condition has yet to be met.

Of course, everyone knows that good AI is one of the hardest things in the entire universe to code well.

I have great respect for MTW's AI, even though I wish it to be stronger, because the task of coding a good AI for such a complex game seems enourmously daunting to me.

It was flagrant spam.

Actually I just wanted to see more "I agrees" or whatever. Threads with simple statements, and minimal debate and conversation etc. seem more likely to get the attention of the devs to me. (the way I figure it, they certainly don't post much, if their lives are all as busy as Gil claims his is, then their pressed for time reading the forums at home, and we all know about "work time")

So ya, I'm hoping this'll turn into a petition of sorts.
