View Full Version : Preventing seaborne invasions
Is it possible to prevent a seaborne invasion by destroying the port in the province that is about to get invaded?
Is it in any way possible to have sea supremacy so that the enemy cannot invade your provinces from the sea?
As english, I keep destroying almo ships but on the same turn, before I sink them they manage to dump their troops into my provinces... I need a break from this, wave after wave of these pests is coming in!

No. Forces can land in a province that lacks a port. You do need a port for launching troops though.

Yes. Simply occupy every sea region that borders your province.

That would be because there are more than one sea region that borders your province and you're not covering them all.
That should solve it!

In short, no.

Just make sure to keep ships in *all* sea regions surrounding Britain. So long as you do, the Almos won't be able to land troops.
Well, wait a tick. I'm pretty sure if you both have ships in a sea square you can still land, I know I've done it before to the English as the French (from Brittany) and as Denmark (raiding that sweet province that borders Scotland).

Nope. You have to clear sea regions of *all* enemy vessels, including those belonging to the faction you want to invade.

just place ships on the seas that boarder your provinces. just one of your ships on EACH of those seas would do the trick. just place 3 ships on each sea would do good in-case they try to attack them.
In short, no. Destroying it will of course prevent an invader from being able to ship reinforcements into the province until the port is rebuilt, but it won't actually stop an enemy from launcing a seaborne attack. [...]
I´m afraid I´ll have to correct you on that, as long as you have a clear sea lane to the province you can send reinforcements. You can´t have agents travel into that province by ship, though, but troops are fine.

And since as the province may be cut off from your King/Khalifah/Grand Prince/etc, there may be issues concerning the loyalty of your troops and the province (especially if you have a large empire by this point). If your enemy launch a counter-offensive to try to recapture the province, and you have no Port present there, there is no retreat - which is both valiant and also potentially nasty.
The cheapest way to prevent a sea-borne invasion is just to cycle 2 of your fastest ships into and out of the adjacent sea-region every turn
It keeps the waters hostile and, if your ships are faster, the enemy can never kill your boats to create a clear passage to land an army.
It's a bit cheezy, though. REAL men don't do that sort of thing. ;-)

Gah. You're quite correct. (Remind me not to post stuff when I've just woken from a nap....)
