View Full Version : Darn lousy kings!
So I am playing English. I have taken all of France 20-30 years ago. My great king dies. His b@astard son takes over. Some of my generals rebel and the French re-emerge at the same time. They immediately kill my new lousy king for me. I kill them all and am happy with my 3rd king in 3 years.
Is this a great game or what?!

Maybe you should try to breed some warrior queens http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
But that I had the chance.
HEY CA!? Where the heck are the QUEENS who rule? I want queens!
I guess there MAY have been queens in the time period MTW is set in (I ain't much of a history buff) but I think generally male heirs were preferred.

You may have queens.
It depends on how you choose to interpet various vices http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Ya want Xena, Warrior princess? Ummm... I would LOVE to have her lead the Army...
7 star general... but Xena would have perversion V&V... plus, her disdain for education would cause her to have only 1 acumen.

male heirs were PREFERRED, but if there were no male heirs born, the empire wouldnt go up in flames, the princess would take over as queen...if there were no princesses, then the empire would either dissolve, or a civil war would break out

They had one, and she was Danish anyway, and although pretty smart, probably to smart to meddle in war, hence no warrior.
No, I search my brain for great women of the Middle Age, and only one pops up and she is Hildegrard von Bingen (currently the name of one of my hens together with Big Bertha and Brynhilde). Now, Hildegard was a great woman of her time (though not up against much competition, alas) but she was a nun or more correctly a Mother Superior. Her vices would be extremely pius (good), anorexic (true, she starved herself to deth) and anally retentive (???).
So, sorry "Mary, Queen of Scots", this game is a 1000 years to late for a Boadiccia. Ayway all is not lost. Your next good king has probably just shoved some socks down her pants, put on a loose beard and is currently mastering the art of farting in bed.

Would of been nice to have more info about your royal family. I'd love it if both kings and queens could rule.
I'd love it even more if the system was more complex. So you could track both male and female heirs, as well as tracking where your married off daughters ended up. Would be fun if you could assasinate wives and husbands too.. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Certainly wasn't a roman descent or islamic thing to give women power, but this was not necessarily a universal thought, the celtic civilisations had no problems with women having power, noteably bodecia who got pissed off with the romans was one serious bitch queen, but mainly it seems religion has been the key to opression during the middle ages and i really can't think of many noteable queens (only woman i can think of is john of arc) that historically occured during the period of the game.
