I want to change the overhand spear animation to those used in Paeninsula Italica mod so the hoplites won't drag their spears beneath the ground anymore. Can someone teach me how I can do this?
PI uses SigniferOnes's hoplite animation which is not included in EB...

wich program would you need to merge em?

What I mean is I want to extract the PI's overhand animation and replace the EB's one with it.
theres an animation pack (somewhere) that has both S1 and EB animations...

I'm looking at it too, as it would finally make hoplite fight as they shoud (no more spear dragging with light_spear and no more back rows thrusting the air with Fanatic's changes).
I can help you guys that surely can mod better than me with this links...
Tool to merge the animations is here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=710414&postcount=2)
And there's a topic about how to do it here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=44974)
Furthmore Roma Surrectum states to use both Signiferone and EB animations, would it be possible to just use its animation pack?

I've verified that Res Gestae 3.0 uses a unified animation pack too.
I've done some test with Signiferone's hoplites animation and unfortunately it doesn't solve all the issues I'm concerned with (you still have to use short_pike attribute to make them properly charge, which means having back rows spears pointing the sky) and it has a new issue itself (during the charge the spears point the wrong direction! :dizzy2:
I'll make some more tests messing with attributes and perhaps mass values...if anyone has any suggestion about it it would be great.

yes, if you use the S1_hoplite animation you have to rotate the spear 180 degrees on the model (this is only for EB though; most mods generally have them that way to begin with).

Thanks for the replies. Unfortunately, it seems this is beyond my ability. I thought it was just a matter of simply changing few files, but it seems it's much more complicated than that.

Mcantu,
isn't there any way to have correct animations for hoplites in EB? It's really a shame to have such a flaw in this fantastic mod...not to mention that being EB one of the most historical focused mod having hoplite units using those long spears is quite annoying (no offense modders, you've done an incredible work!).

i would not say that the animation is incorrect. i think that at some point the EB team decided that having overhand spears implemented in battle as they wanted out weighed their appearance when marching.
to shorten the spears it involves editing the models in 3ds max...

to shorten the spears it involves editing the models in 3ds max...Have you done it yourself? I'm not sure I can handle it myself...and it would be great if you could post "corrected" models.

i've done it myself for units in RTR-FOE but not EB
