I like it! ^_^

I had some trouble at first. I don't have a soundcard, useing some built in stuff on my motherboard for sound. Anything but low quality sound locks my system up. After solveing that I had some fun trashing phesant armies.

I started my first SP game as Byzantine in the early campaigne. I first set out to uild my infrastructure, building up troop facilities in Constantinople, Rhodes and another province famous for its Pronai somethin or other.

I built my armies up and utterly destroyed the TUrks in a few key battles and defences. I then accidently went to war with the Egyptians when I mistaked them for the Almohads, whom had attacked and destroyed everything in the Pronai province by sea. I completely trashed the egyptians in no time, running into the Spanish forces which had evenmore quickly beaten the Almohads and got Egpyt province before I did. Grrr...

As soon as I thought I could rest the Scillians took Greee by suprise by Sea. They then destroyed Constantinople by Sea. GRRRRR!! Now I have to rebuild all my troop facilities there.

Now i was pissed, I had no clue how to do the navy thing and was getting invaded all over the place. Then I wised up and built a navy at Rhodes.

THEN, as if things weren't tough enough the SPanish declared a crusade against me in the midst of all this. They eventually arrive and go around and strike Bulgaria, I move my forces from Greece and raise a merc army s well to defend Constantinople, the Crusades target.

I defeat the Spanish crusade at constantiople and pressed on into BUlgaria, destroying them utterly. I then discovered Sciliy had been excommunicated by the Papacy and was at war with them. I came to their aid as I am now a HUGE catholic hater and don't trust any Catholic factions at all while my souther armies try to out manuver and isolate the Spanish horde by sea and land.

THEN, the Turks make a huge uprising! Nooo! I have to call back forces from all over to defeat them AGAIN>

THIS GAME IS AWESOME! *L* hehe *grin*

LoL, Katasaki-san. Only way to go: dive right in. Byz-ies were my first choice as well. Learned much about the game from them (esp. economics and its effects). The the Danes with their Vikings taught me slash and burn (great fun, but short-lived). Now I alternate Christian/non-christian factions, and am getting a better feel for long-term strategy.

Glad you resolved your sound issues & like the game. Welcome aboard!

Yeah, just dive in there. You'll get your ass kicked a load at first, but you'll learn quickly and your second campaign will be a much smoother ride.

Strangely enough... I picked the Byzantine as well for my first game http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Nice to read about someone enjoying the game for what it is....a fun way to spend an afternoon.

Perhaps we have all become a little jaded, and are expecting too much.

Well, there is the small matter of WHERE THE HELL THE PATCH IS! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah *L* I'mnot new to Total war, so I'm not completely ignorant but this game seems totally diffrent, except for the asian death groans and yelps. I'v gotten the hang of usieng the generals, developing their vices and virtues and learned how well it can help to assign generals with high acumen with land grants.

I beat the Turks, and the spanish and now have a empire that stretches from Hungaria to Tunisa unbroken. I'm the richest and most powerfull kingdom, since SPain fell victim to a civil war.
