LALALA good idea but make great minor factions like the Maccabees (spelling?) and then mod it so you can be them ha im jewish :P
could be fun
I just imagine the challenge of building a jewish empire... expect loads of crusades and jihads, while having a very small army...

Unofrtunatley about 1400 years out of time.
They were the ruling jewsh power that fought for independenmce against the greeks. So 400 to 200 BC, forunners of the saduceees

Sakurai, mod the italians to pretend they are jews, then you'd have the perfect small army / trade campaign (and at least your main home province won't be Sinai).
It might cause a surprise to the pope, though
