I just started a new Seleukeia campaign. My faction leader and his son (the next faction leader) can hardly move at all. They seem to have a trait for every season that prevents them from moving very far per turn. Needless to say I keep them where they are. Why can't they move this? If it is the traits, why do they have them? :inquisitive:

I am playing 1.0. I used the "no client rulers" fix to speed up the game. (Another good question is why do I still have client rulers?)

I'll see what? Why I can't move in 1.0?

You should update to 1.1 anyways. No one is going to help you with 1.0

Thanks....I think.

I spent too much time on my 1.0 campaigns and haven't finished them. If I update to 1.1 and start new campaigns, I 'll come across a similar problem in a year with 1.1, but then nobody will help me then because EB II will be out. It's a vicous cycle.:wall::smash:

Actually, they'll still help you with EB 1.1 until EB 1.2 comes out because EB II is for M2TW. So it's not that vicious of a cycle

OK, substitute "EB II" with "EB 1.2". Still vicous; still a cycle.

Quit whining, upgrade and enjoy the game. This thread is pointless.

no need to be rude "a completely inoffensive name" ...

I think you might have messed something with the client ruler fix...

Can it be something with the babylonian new years festival? It had a movement penalty earlier, but i don't know until when, as i didn't play the AS prior to 1.1.

It could just be some kind of trait that reduces movement temporarily. Check all of the FMs in that stack for traits like "on his deathbed". It's also possible to have several movement penalties adding together, including a restriction for the season.

I had a FM on his deathbed as I was shipping a full stack from Greece to North Africa. It struck half-way across, and it took me about 10 turns (!) to get to land, as the fleet could only move 1 step per turn due to his movement restrictions. Now I only ship FMs as single passengers...

No, I checked all the traits nothing resricting to that extent. Their movement restrictions have been from the begining of the campaign. I didn't notice until a few turns in and when I did notice I didn't think it would be this persistant.

The only trait they have that is not very common is the "biography"; I guess these guys are from actual history and it tells their story. You start the campaign with them. I started a new campaign to check to see if they could move in that one and they are fine in that one.

It's not worth restarting a new one for. I guess I'll make the "heir who can't move"'s brother the heir instead. The father is already in his 60's.

The only other thing I can think of is the heir is out of his "satrap area"; but I thought that only affected effectiveness in governing.

Oh yeah "completely inoffensive name" and anyone else who thinks I should upgrade to 1.1:

Let's just pretend this is a problem someone ran into a year ago before 1.1 came out. Everybody acts as if the existence of 1.1 is somehow causing problems in my 1.0 game. Unless 1.1 address some of the issues I am experiening (which I don't beleive it does), it is irrelevant.

The fact it is; I probably wouldn't notice they difference between 1.0 and 1.1, and I just happen to be playing 1.0 with 4 on going campaigns I spent a lot of time on.

zarasophist, that issue with the babylonian new year is caused by a bug that is fixed in EB 1.1, so yes 1.1 addresses that problem and a whole lot more

Thanks. I stand corrected.
