Hi,

I'm new to Europa Barbarorum, but I instantly fell in-love with the depth and painstaking research evident in the mod.

But I've got just one problem...

Maybe it's because I've been playing the Total Realism mod up to now, but the speed of troop movement in the EB battles looks far too fast to me. The little b*ggers zip around like caffeine-fuelled ants, even on the Normal time setting, and it kills the feeling of realism. I've tried upping all the graphic settings to maximum, but all that does is slow the frame-rate, not the movement of my hyperactive soldiers.

I realise that this is an entirely aesthetic problem - 'realistically' paced battles would take hours or even days - but can anyone tell me how to slow the marching rate down a bit?

Are you serious? EB have vastly slowed down battlefield movement speeds from vanilla that represent realistic values. And you find them fast? Battles lasted much longer not because people walked around at snail paces, but there was a lot more soldiers that needed to be killed than can be represented in EB.

No need to be so harsh, dumbass. He's comparing them with RTR not RTW. Anyway, I don't think that they walk or run in a fast fashion at all.

your name doesn't help, Dumbass. :smash:

I don't find them fast either but to each it's own I don't know how to do it though :sweatdrop:

my guess would be the EDU but... that would take AGES to modify if I'm not wrong

Thanks for the input.

After playing a bit more I found that the marching is fine, but the running/charging is about twice as fast as (IMO) looks right.

That said, all the other aspects of EB make this a very minor quibble. I'll just have to get used to it.

Rest assured friend, it only looks that way. In fact, EB troop
movement modifiers are lower (slower) than both RTW & RTR by comparison and most other mods for that matter. That doesn't happen to be a subjective statement on my part, BTW. It happens it says so in the code, if one was to compare.

EB looks about right to me- for comparison's sake, although I really wouldn't wish vanilla RTW on anyone, try out a battle in vanilla RTW then compare to EB. In the vanilla game, the battles looked like they were in 3x speed mode compared to MTW, and infantry could actually outrun light cavalry!

EB made a waste of $50 into one of my favorite games of all time :2thumbsup:

You are right in one part, especially charging movements are very quick compared to "normal" movements. But I have no problem with that, this way there actually is a difference between walking (long way movements, not tiring), running (better: jogging, medium-term movements, quite exhausting) and the final impact charge where they really want to smash into the enemy lines with full force produced by a short sprint. No human can keep that velocity for longer than 1-2 minutes maximum as it burns up all your short-term energy (biologically ATP ;) ) and overstresses all your muscles, joints etc.. And that is if you run in sports gear, not in multiple kilograms of armor and weaponry...

If you see the "Running" option more like a "jogging" as I do you'll find EB's choice of speed rather fine, I think:2thumbsup:
