This is a little test I made having noticed similar quizes in the Frontroom. I didn't think my quiz would make an appropriate thread in the Frontroom, so I hope the mods don't mind if I put it here.
There was a similar test I found on the site, but it only had four options (Catholic, Protestant, Evangelical, Pentecostal). My quiz is a bit more complicated, its got nine possible outcomes, and more theological questions.
http://www.gotoquiz.com/which_christian_denomination_do_you_belong_to
Some feedback would be nice, since I'm the only person to have taken it so far. These were my results BTW:

I'm a Methodist? A Methodist? Well, at least my actual denomination Episcopalian, scored third on the list. But seriously, Methodist? To quote that classic of American literature, John Carpenter's The Thing, "You gotta be ******* kidding!"
-edit-
Oops: "One of the biggest theological differences between Methodists and other reformed faiths is the Methodist belief in free will, and that men choose to sin, rather than being born as its slaves." Um, didn't know that, and it's uncannily close to my personal views. I guess maybe I'm a closet Methodist after all.

Well its a beta version, I can't be certain all the sliders for every option in each question add up to be perfectly balanced for each outcome.
Although if you do believe in free will you will score highly as a Methodist.
Methodist. ~
You are missing Presbyterian in the list of possibles.

You are missing Presbyterian in the list of possibles.
That comes under Calvinism, there's a limit to ten options in the quizzes. Non-strictly Presbyterian Calvinist's will tend to come under the Puritan category.
EDIT: Hmm, don't know whats with all the Methodists...
Your Result: Episcopalian
As an episcopalian, you support the espicopal system and the associated church hierarchy. You believe that positions such as those of Priest and Bishop are necessary within a church, and help keep the flock on a righteous path. Despite being a Protestant denomination, in many ways your views are likely to be more in line with those of the Papacy than any of the Lutheran or reformed churches. The best known espicopal church is the Church of England, or the Anglican Church. It sees itself as being "via media", or inbetween Protestanism and Catholicism. Episcoplians are widely spread throughout the world, but of course the episcopal heartland remains in England.

Catholic, but it didn't ask if I agree that burning Protestants at the stake enables them to go to Heaven and should be mercifully practised at all opportunities (particularly cold winter nights or parish barbecues) - to which the answer yes would make me a Pious Catholic. :wink3:
Nor indeed, did it ask if I believe any of that stuff I know the answer to after years of childhood indoctrination anymore... :beam:

Hah! Knew it!
Your Result: Lutheran
You adhere to the theologies of Martin Luther, one of the first great figureheads of the Protestant Reformation. You believe firmly in salvation through faith alone, the issue which caused Luther to split with Rome. However, you do not accept the doctrine of predestination as it is interpreted by Calvinists, instead believing that anyone is capable of accepting God and entering Heaven. However, Lutherans do believe that all men are born sinners, and as such cannot reject sin through their own free will. Lutherans do have a broad range of views on church organisation, and while they are widely recognised as Protestants, many do not accept this grouping considering it was Luther's intention to reform the Papacy, not split from it.
Episcopalian
Methodist
Restorationist
Catholic
Calvinist
Pentecostal
Puritan
Baptist
I really thought Puritan would rank higher.

Rhyfelwyr
09-18-2008, 18:36
People who believe that all major churches have been corrupted beyond reconciliation with God, except theirs which is of course correct.
As someone raised Lutheran but who is now about as non-religious as they get, this should be interesting....
And the result is: Methodist!
Pentecostal
Baptist
Puritan
Lutheran
Episcopalian
Catholic
Calvinist
Restorationist
That's a little....odd. I'm not surprised by the primary result -- Methodism always had a certain appeal to me before I renounced my faith -- but I am surprised that Lutheran is so far down the list, and especially that it was beaten out by Baptist and Puritan. :inquisitive:
Ah well. Not like it matters to me anymore anyway. ~:)

Baptist and Puritan score highly for individual church freedom, that could be something to do with it. It also is the only way I think Calvinist and Puritan could be so far apart on one list.

Yes I got one right so far! Maybe my quiz isn't rigged to make everyone think they're Methodists!
I had thought about making Southern and Northern Baptist categories, but I thought that the difference would be shown in a higher Pentecostal score for Southern Baptists anyway.

I came up Baptist.
In real life I was an atheist until about age 24, and then I became an open minded Christian. I attend an Episcopalian church because I like the old school ritual and the open minded congregation. Most of the questions on the quiz did not offer responses similar to what I believe.
Most of my extended family are fundamentalist Baptists, I thought I was different.
as an indifferent agnostic i come out as 85% pentacostal, with the lowest affiliation being catholic at about 5%, and everything else varying between 15% and 55%.
I'm a methodist as well. Mostly went with symbolic choices and free will and such.

Which Christian denomination do you belong to?
Your Result: Catholic
As a Catholic, you believe in the idea of a universal church, with the Pope at its head. You believe a strong hierarchy is necessary to keep order within the church, from the priests and bishops up to the Pope himself. Your theological views are likely to be very much conservative and based on tradition. Catholics believe in seven sacraments, and that the holy communion is the literal blood and body of Christ. In addition to this, they do not accept the Lutheran view of salvation through faith alone, or Calvinist views on predestination; but instead believe that good works are an essentital part of securing a place in Heaven. As a Catholic, you are likely to share many views with episcoplians, and to an extent perhaps also Lutherans, but otherwise your hierarchy and theological beliefs distance you from the post-reformation churches.
As it should be, anything else and I might of had to question my faith:whip:

I am no great mind when it comes to theology, in fact I am an A-GRADE idiot when it comes to matters of The Church.
My support of it is simple, I was raised as a Catholic and have become completely naturalised to it, on top of this I fail to see how a group of men in the 16th century could possibly refute the power and the rightness of the one Catholic Church, the oldest form of Christianity in existence. I usually just end up seeing it ( The Reformation) as pure egoism and politiking.
