View Full Version : lots of crashes, many different ways
Ok, so I really like this mod and I've tried other mods and have never experienced so many crashes. Before I turn on the script my game runs normal, but when I activate it my game lags terribly. So I played with the script on for awhile and just experienced huge drops in my framerate, so I decided to not activate the script when I load the game. The game runs just as it normally did like other mods, but still experience many ctds. I save the gave often and haven't lost a saved game due to a ctd yet, but with-in a 2-3 hour session I get like 2-5 ctds. Anyone have any input? Also why exactly does the script cause such bad drops in framerate? and what exactly does the script do in the longrun?
Have you got the fixes?
The part of the script that makes the lag is the client rulers. You can disable them or get the optional optimization fix. See frequent issues.
Sorry xeksirt if i don't answer your question but i have one for bovi:what exactly are client rulers and why do they cause so many problems?I have read many posts on thr problems they cause but no one ever says this.
If you build a type IV government, the script will spawn a character in the city to function as client ruler. This character will look like an ordinary family member, but will be part of your family. He will also have a bodyguard of high-quality infantry or cavalry, which will require quite some upkeep.
The problem is that the part of the script that places client rules slows the game down quite a bit. By deactivating this part you can speed up your turns. Another option is optimized script available in the 1.1 fix topic under optional, but as I understand it the optimized script occasionally causes client rulers to get duplicated, leading to crashes.
ok so, if I use some other mods I can get the script to work a little better? I think I'll just keep playing w/o it.
also, nobody has explained what it really does
If you play without the script then you are essentially not playing EB. It controls so many different things. Most importantly if you don't have it the AI will have a real hardtime recruiting anything from their newly conquered provinces (due to how recruitment works). If you want to play EB you'll have to load the script.
Just get the 1.1 fixes first.
Foot
so essentially playing eb without the script would be something like playing rome with a bigger map and new units right?
