View Full Version : GLORIOUS ACHIEVEMENTS still don\'t work!!!!!
It may be that the conquest points in the High and Late periods for old saved games will still not add up as before.
Be careful, it may need a restart to work properly.
Edited: till further notice.

My sig. line says it all:
------------------
Bacchus
----
In the end times, there will be rumors of a patch-- but none shall come. And there shall be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth across the lands. And still no patch shall come. And the poor suckers will start eating their children out of frustrated desperation. And yet-- no patch shall come. And then, finally, some small glimmer of hope shall appear. And a "patch" shall be released. But, alas, it shall do no good. Verily, I say unto you-- the end of days shall be dark and horrible.

Well, what can i say, i cannot put into words how disappointed i am... surely it was an easy enough task, everybody had provided ample evidence to you lot about how GAs didn't add up, and yet, they still don't work.
I am exasperated. We (sort of beta team) even set up a private forum so you could look at our findings.
Makes me wonder whether you ever even looked at it!?
Erado compiled all our findings that we reported to him via email and delivered them to you.
Makes me wonder whether you ever even read them?!
So what's the problem i hear you ask since obviously neither you nor the so called QA group at Activision could find it given the entire 2 and a bit months you worked on it. It's a simple enough problem that i discovered in a very short time indeed.
Conquest points are not adding onto the points total when they should be in the High period. They didn't used to in the Early period too, but i think you actually managed to find that bug...lol amazing.
I can't even be bothered to test the Late period because i reckon there's very little point as it's bound to be buggered.
So what do you plan to do? Release a patch by February to address this fundamental and seriously important aspect of your otherwise quite magnificent game? Or release a very short and immediate fix? Let me reassure you i hope for the game's sake that it's the second option.
I, and i imagine many others here, only ever play GA mode as it's by far more rewarding and exciting than basic conquest mode. But what's the point when you know it doesn't work, it simply takes away all my addictive desires to play the game!? Imagine the Danes who almost certainly have to rely on conquest points to out-score other factions. Well they can forget about it, unless they can amass enough in the Early period or kill every other faction....
What's even worse, is we can't even fix the bloody thing ourselves. It's such a shame since i've really admired your participation in the MTW fora over the past 2 months. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif
This aspect is so fecking fundamental to MTW, bugged V & Vs i can handle, even excessive destruction of improvements.....but this, arrghhh! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif
Poor show.

Dont assume this is a bug. I suppose if you started losing the game thats a bug as well.
On the whole the patch does a lot of good things that's the shame.....
It just doesn't fix one of the most vital ones. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif

Richard, i appreciate your defence here, because quite often people jump to the conclusion certain things are bugs that are actually game features...
However, if it says it'll add my conquest points to my score in the year 1300 i expect my 13 points earned under conquest to be added. It somehow manages to add the Homelands points ok...
Like i say, if i remember correctly it does the Early period ok... just not the High... haven't tested the Late yet.
If you want to know how i tested this so quickly, it's simple, i have a saved game in the year 1299.

Don't expect old savegames to work under all conditions. Too much has changed that may be incompatible. Things that are in old savegames may not work fully with some of the new code in the patch.
I hope your optimism is well founded Ed, and like i said, if it does need a restart, one can ignore this whole post.
Most of the other things seem to work fine on old saved games.
We'll see...

Well after patching and trying the Danes in
a new game I did score the right GA points. It only reported the homelands (5 points)on the anouncement sceen but with holding two other lands I did end up with 9 points total on the GA screen.
Dont know if it works for anything other than Home/conquest yet.
Like Ed says it may be that one has to restart a campaign game in order for the new scoring of GAs to work... if so just ignore the rant at the top.

Yes, and that seems to be the problem faced with the Crossbow-bug. I tested that.

well if we could get some sorta official word from activision on this baby, that'd be helpful.
Instead of course the loyal community will frantically work through it all themselves, and we will have drawn all the necessary conclusions before activision notices that their patch has been released.
