Hi. First of all, EB is a superb mod and I have the utmost respect for all the developers who were willing to put in all those countless hours and painstaking effort.

I would just like to highlight one issue I recently suffered. Playing as Romans in EB 1.1 with all essential fixes in, I besieged Mediolanium and was attacked by two small reinforcing Gallic armies. I won the battle and waited the customary 30 seconds before exiting the battle screen. I was returned to the campaign map and found I had done well enough to capture the city. I clicked one of the three options and got a CTD.

I note that this is very similar issue to one in RTR, which is when a city has been taken and one of the options is selected, a crash occurs. This is most common in battles like the above where battle is initiated by another army and the garrison joins as reinforcements. The solution in RTR is to set options to "Follow AI Movement" before the battle.

I would also like to note that I have a previous game with the Ptolemaioi where I have fought several reinforcement battles without incident. However, that was before I edited the Preferences file such that Unlimited Men on battlefield is TRUE.

Anyway, I had saved the turn before, so I reloaded and this time the Gauls did not attack. Having already won previously, I used auto_win to assault and take the settlement. I also set the option "Follow AI Movement". This time I took the city without any problems. I am not sure whether the solution from RTR helped.

I looked for this issue in the Frequent Issues thread, but did not find it there. So my question is: is this or has this ever been an issue in EB, just like it has in RTR? Might my editing of the Preferences have anything to do with it? Are there any fixes other than the one I have tried?

Thank you.

Good that you got past the crash, but perhaps you overlooked this one:

I saved my game right before a battle begins, and the game crashes after the battle.
Yes, that's true. You need to always save on your turn, and never right before a battle, as that provokes CTDs. Reload an earlier savegame and you should be fine. Don't have an earlier savegame? Foolish. Make sure you retain them in your next campaign.

If you did not save the game right before the battle, you could try the trick that Lusted posted with corrected_regions.tga to avoid it happening again. I'll write something up in the frequent issues on it.

I did not save right before the battle, I saved before ending my turn like I usually do. Thus I was able to continue from that save.

I'll play on and see if it happens again, and if it does I'll try the fix you suggested.

Thanks for the reply.
