every ally that i've had always stabbed me in the back. i loosen up my borders where my allies are and 9/10 times they attack and completely betray me....there isn't even a point of having allies..pisses me off. it needs to b more realistic than that...

Life got you down? Are your allies stabbing you in the back to the point that you worry they have a spinal fetish? Want to forge long lasting relationships that can stand the test of time?

Try an AI mod!

AI mods do wonders for M2 and actually raise living standards, they've been known to cure disease and even promote high resale value on your home! So act now at one of these fine locations: Just off the I-86 Exit. (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=556) Turn right. (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=159)

And remember, if it ain't an AI mod, it ain't worth Jack!

I recommend FactionHeir's vanilla mod, Lusted's LTC gold and King Kong's SS 6.1. All fine mods that do among other things, wonders for the AI.

In SS 6.1 your ally will still attack you, but only if it has a large advantage, which is much more realistic than Scotland betraying England and sending 2 highland rabbles to attack

It also varies from campaign to campaign.

Usually, as Venice, I can destroy Milan AND get an alliance with the pope w/o any trouble. In my present campaign the pope was hostile right away and I've been excomm'ed almost the entire game.

There seems to be a randomn factor of some sort:dizzy2:

edit: I use FactioHeirs VanillaMod

That was a problem introduced in ss 5.0, for some reason the menus became really unstable. Not sure why. But once you get in game it is a lot more stable and I haven't had a non-menu crash yet. The menu crash happens when you jump around on the faction selection screen, or try to play campaign after playing a custom battle

I use Honga's site to scope out factions starting position since he has a subtab dedicated to SS 6.1, that way when i get into game I don't risk a crash by selecting too many faction tabs.
