I had to cheat to attack Terhazza and I modded the EDU so that all melee infantry had at least 200 men per unit.

Whow!!
Respect and Glory to you!!!

Nice! That´s the most beautiful mini-map I´ve seen, much prettier than the Romani, AS and Epeiros once I´ve seen. The dark green looks real good.

It's odd. I had over 6 million mnai yet I still didn't think of bribing any cities...

Oh, and fighting the Sarmatians and Saka as a Celt faction was a royal pain in the ass. Seriously. I hate them.

And there is NOTHING in EB that can compare to seeing the Seleucids' "Faction Destroyed" icon.

@ appo
yeah, the best color in the game!

@ Cullhwch
true, they´re the perfect antiinfantry units... did you use horsearchers in your army to fight the steppepanzer?

Cullhwch

Yeah, I used quite a few mercenary HAs for the field battles. But I tried to limit myself to assaults. Teceitos and other axemen make short work of cornered steppe bodyguards. And to be fair to them, I kind of initiated the wars by annihilating 3/4 stacks in their biggest settlements.

Hah, and the nice green color is exactly why I've played about twenty Aedui campaigns to zero Arverni ones. Yellow just can't compare.

Wow...just wow. I dont post much but for this I just had to say congratulations. Right now Im in a Romani campaign and im near the year 190 myself but limited my self to expanding very little. If I expanded as far as I could I still dont think I would have been able to conquer the world by this time, and thats with the Romani. I could imagine it would be much tougher to do as Gauls so that is one high accomplishment in my book.

So what do you plan to do next oh ruler of the world? :help::whip: :sweatdrop::whip: :juggle2::whip:

Cullhwch

Hmm. I could move my capital from Bibracte to Ankyra, let the entirety of Gaul revolt to slave, and spawn some Gaesatae/Brihentin stacks in it to simulate another Gallic civil war. That would be fun and generate lots of Heroic Victories for my generals of choice.

Oh, and Nixalsveridus, what makes you think that I wasn't roleplaying? I only used Cocolitanos's direct male descendants for field battles and kept the Arverni, Casse, Romani, and Epirotes alive for the longest time of all the factions. I modded the starting positions for the Aedui (gained one town in northwest Gaul), Arverni (gained Vindobona, Ak-Ink, Singidunum, Ankyra, and Ipsos), Casse (gained Ratae) and the KH (gained Crete and Massalia). I wanted the Arverni to survive my initial onslaught and thus exist for longer than 2 years, the Casse to expand more quickly, and the KH to gain a stronger starting position. I gifted myself that town in the northwest to offset Massalia, which I usually take within 3 turns with Catamantaloedis.

Wow. Amazing achievement.
What difficulty were you playing on?

Cullhwch
09-30-2008, 05:57
Just M/M. I should have gone with H/M to let the AI use mercs. I ended up spawning Imperial Legions for the Romans to throw at me. That's where all those gold chevrons came from. The other upside to M/M is that autoresolve isn't skewed, which is a bonus considering I had to fight well over 400 battles.

Congratulations. Its the first time for me to see someone achieving that in EB. wow.. just wow.:2thumbsup:

If your capital still is in Bibracte, how the hell do you keep the easternmost settlements from probing civil war all the time? If I stretch my empire quickly that far away from the capital it's hard to keep those guys quiet at all, at least without garrisoning every town with a full stack after selling all inhabitants into slavery...:inquisitive: I usually am forced to expand very slowly as I really have to secure and appease city after city, but you somehow seemd to blitz the whole world, achieving that in 190BC...:smash:

Cullhwch
09-30-2008, 17:11
Extermination. Lots of it. After exterminating a city, I'd hire the cheapest mercs nearby to garrison it.

Dude...

I wish I had your determination and constance (obsessiveness is a more accurate word, consdiering the feat of finishing in such a way an EB campaign).

My hat`s off to you.

Actually, I´ve seen entire map conquests by AS, Romani, Saka-Rauka (that´s jsut crazy) and I think Epeiros. Well, perhaps on or two of them didn´t take Terhazza, but that´s not really a big deal.

I didnt say the Sahara. Do you even know where Saudi Arabia is?

Cullhwch
10-03-2008, 23:30
Relax, man, Hax was correct, if a tad condescending. Terhazza controls all of the major desert tilesets outside of Gedrosia. The Sahara and the Arabian Desert are actually the same province. I believe that this was done to represent how no organized factions actually controlled the deserts and to prevent the Ptolemies and the AS from bordering the Saba too quickly. If the Saba controlled the Arabian Desert in-game, they'd probably get crushed within 25 years.

Thx for the explanation. Saba usually gets crushed within 25 years anyways.

Yes, but the usual beating would transform into thermonuclear ass-rape if the Saba controlled that particular desert.

There is nothing noble about two massive empires thrusting into the poor Saba from multiple directions...

That's what makes playing Saba so fun, getting thrusted into by two empires at once.
