Yes.
Though more information is best found in the modding fora.

well i did not find any file with that name :shame:
Searched almost all my m2tw maps though.
And this should be a .txt ?
*never mind, found some useful info at the modding part, seems i need to download something :( *

If you have Vanilla 1.2 you will find the unpacker in the tools folder. Just read the readme and you will be fine.

i dont have vanilla 2
i just got the complete budget version ( after playing vanilla 1 from a friend )
and i thought with 1.3 version it doesnt work
Monsieur Alphonse

Vanilla 1.2 is Vanilla patched with patch 1.2 (official name 1.02) which you can download from totalwar.com
TheDruid

yeah that i know.
but i have 1.3 so does that one work?
Monsieur Alphonse

I think that patch 1.3 contains patch 1.2. Look for a tools folder inside your M2 folder. In it you will find the unpacker.

ok i'll checkk it out.
if it fails , i'll reinstall to 1.2 , not 1.3
or what does 1.3 version just do?
the 2hander bugs and so are cleared in 1.2 right?
Monsieur Alphonse

Correct. You don't need 1.3 unless you want to play MP battles with someone who has Kingdoms.
TheDruid

so ; uninstall , reinstall to 1.2.
use unpacker. deleting 2 files? i know how to find which ones.
then i have to download something or not? (almost there now :laugh4: )

stuck now :
i uninstalled m2tw. i reinstalled to 1.2, when the setup asks to install 1.3 i abort.
--> went to tools/data. read the readme and tried to open the unpacker.exe as well as the unpackall.bat = twice the same reaction : i get a popup with message " couldnt find MSVCP71.dll file. this problem could be resolved by reinstalling....
tried a few times, got tired so i decided perhaps it would work with 1.3 version. installed that but i keep getting the same message.
I do have vista though :s
if it's just vanilla stats you're after, check out honga's site (http://totalwar.honga.net/?encode=en)

Copy all the .dll files from your /Medieval II Total War folder into the /tools/unpacker folder. That should rid you of that error message.

thx lordlaban :) i hope i get it sorted out now.
as for the reporting; dunno what i did wrong.
at the modding forum no one answered, here they did. and this started as a normal thread where i went further into the answer.
wouldnt it be stupid to start another thread about this on another place on this forum?
correct me if i'm wrong :) always open for new ideas :2thumbsup:
* copied al the files, the unpacker finally worked but at about 20.000 files of 36.000 the unpacker just closes. i'll give it a try at that forum :) *

Don't worry about Forummoderator. He is a new member and cannot warn you. Just some practical joke. I don't know if that copying will work. You probably have to reinstall. If you get that error message again post you question in the hard and software forum. Good luck.
