After installing the patch and starting a new game - I cannot build Sipahi now!

I love those cheap horse units - very useful.

It's not broken... Siphai are a Late period unit and therefore now you can only build them in the Late period.

It's the same with all units now, you can only build units in the periods they are meant to be available in.

Simple really.

And a damn good fix in my opinion too. The AI might just be able to keep up with me in unit quality and tech now.

are you sure?

If so, I WISH THEY WOULD PUT THAT IN THE README or - god forbid - the freaking manual, or tech tree.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

How do you know this?

And no, it's not "simple really". Snideness not appreciated when dealing with frsutrating and poorly written documentation.

Um, keep your head on please, "simple really" was meant in the way that the whole period system works "simply" now, i.e. that High period units should appear in the High period.

And yes i know this for sure. Try starting a game in the High or Late periods to verify.

It's true. I started a Danish campaign last night and noticed units now come available only in the proper periods. Yes, it would have been nice to have some notes in the read-me file, but... hey, it's a good addition.

Im sorry I don't remember where but I downloaded from this board a complete chart of all the units and their specifications, both what they did (attack, speed etc) and what was required to build them including time period. It keeps me on track when building the infrastructure for high tech units.

Thanks for the info. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

BTW, Activision emailed me a response to this question:

"Response (Mark Yao) - 11/06/2002 08:45 AM
Hello,

Thank you for contacting customer support about Medieval Total War. The patch that was released was a leaked beta version and has not yet been fully tested so bugs of this nature exists throughout the game. Uninstall the game, delete the game folder then reinstall the game."
