At what speed are battles fought in MP games? Just wondering because I want to practice against the computer with no pausing. There is no pausing in MP, right?
Right, there is no pausing. Normal speed, no acceleration. Normal is fast enough http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif BTW, the best practive for MP is to play MP http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif Humans play differently than the AI. So, come online and ask someone to give you some basic advice. And press Y to communicate with your allies http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif And don't let your allies doubled!!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Cart,
Come online and check it out. You will be suprised at how much "better" humans are than the AI. If you really want to practice against the AI, I would suggest giving the computer 150% more florins than you give yourself. That will begin to approximate the level of difficulty of a skilled human opponent.
The AI makes a lot of dumb mistakes. It walks its ranged units around alot instead of standing and aiming. This makes the AI ineffecient in ways that a skilled human player isnt.
If you are online, look me up -- Bacchus -- I'll help you get oriented.

In the end times, there shall be rumors of a patch-- but none shall come. And there shall be a great wailing and gnashing of teeth across the lands. And the frustrated masses shall search high and low for the patch. And still no patch shall come. And the poor suckers will start eating their children out of frustrated desperation. And yet-- no patch shall come. And then, finally, some small glimmer of hope shall appear. And a "patch" shall be released. But, alas, all shall be as before the patch. Thus, look not for a patch in those last days-- for it is a trick of the Dark Ones. Verily, I say unto you-- the end of days shall be dark and horrible.

Thanks for the info guys. I have to admit I am a little intimadated by going online against the hard-core players here. I have a feeling I am going to suck farts, if you'll excuse the expression. I appreciate the encouragement. And btw/ "Normal" speed is the speed that all battles start on, before you turn up the speed %, correct?
yup, correct. And don't be afraid, everybody sucks in his/her first few hundred battles http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif just state clearly that you are new and that you need help. Oh, yes, and practice grouping , visit the Shogun Academy for details. It was written for STW but the grouping of units works the same way.

Is this DOJO documentation also available in a file to view offline?
cart6566,
The game speed online is limited to 14 frames per second maximum. It feels about the same as the slow setting in custom battle. Now is a good time to go online because everyone is experimenting with the various units since the patch sort of became available yesterday. I think most players will be willing to help you out if you seek advice.
