Lose not Loose

I'm a professional writer, so indulge me a moment. I see time and again people using the word loose for the word lose (You don't "loose" a battle. You might lose a battle by letting loose of your cavalry too soon, though.). The guys on this forum are bright, and I hate to see us portray Americans as illiterate to our MTW brothers overseas. We have George W. to do that for us.

I'm pretty sure the loose grammar phenom is a British thing. To be truthful, I'm a bit of a grammar freak and I long ago gave up trying to convince people they were being stoopid by not spelling it lose. In practical application one has lost a game, not loost it, etc. but the plasticity of the English language makes any didactic post bout it pretty much outdated by the time one mentions it.
Anyway, this is OT, so off if goose.

How about the difference between Moral and Morale. I see this on all boards discussing any kind of millitary type game.
