View Full Version : Cheating my little heart out!

Ok, I have once again stumbled across these cheat commands and I have checked them on MTW and the game actually does verify (sound effect) that it recognizes them and something happens. Now, my question is what? Is there anybody out there that knows what these do? Perhaps they actually do something useful for debug-purposes?!?

These are the rascals I am talking about….

“.miamivice.”
“.booyakasha.”
“.spylookahead.”
“.daggins.”

CORRECTION: The “.spylookahead.” and “.daggins.”-commands does not generate any verifications in MTW.
I thought I'll clear that up as well for everybody...

EDIT: Two down, two to go...

“.booyakasha.”

That's the STW fast build mode. In MTW it's ".worksundays.". I've no idea what the rest are. Where did you fine them?

-Edit: Hmmm, maybe you googled? A lot of non english language sites make mention of those, but with no mention of what they do. I'm not sure how/where they were discovered though?

Those are the known cheats, the ones Axalon has posted are relatively unknown.

Hi Guys,

Yeah, I’m already familiar with all the stuff listed by the froglady. Thanks anyway for trying.

In answer of your question C; let’s just say I found them long ago on one of my many adventures in the “grayer” areas in the world. I stumbled across them again looking thru my various MTW-stuff. It’s not a big secret, but I would deem it a borderline case and considering the policies of this forum, it’s probably better and safer to reveal that particular info for you over PM. I’ll fix one up for you shortly.

Now, here is what I have found and discovered so far (I took your advice C. and Googled some)…

.spylookahead. = Kill any person without dying (Shogun-TW command, no MTW confirmation)
.daggins. = show all map (Shogun-TW command, no MTW confirmation)
.booyakasha. = ???? (Shogun-TW command = fast build, MTW confirmation and no fast build, SFX boom)
.miamivice. = ???? (MTW confirmation, SFX paper)

So, it seems after further research that I was slightly off in my initial claims here and there so far. I thought I checked this, but apparently I didn’t. The “.daggins.” and “.spylookahead.” don’t get any confirmations thus I wonder if they have any functionality at all in MTW. And as far as the .booyakasha. fast build-function goes, it aint happening in MTW (you get a SFX boom! But no fastbuild). So my guess is that something do happen, but it is something else…

The mystery continues….

While I’m at it; here is another I found for Shogun-TW: “.prototypearmy." = for unlimited army life.
Although, I have not checked it out myself.

Yes I'm familiar with those, yet I don't use them. Here in the Main Hall we frown upon cheating...

I once played the sequel to a game, I *think* it was Doom 2, and typing in cheatcodes from the previous game would result in your death with the text: Are you trying to cheat, you little :daisy:

So maybe the "feature" is just that it recognises the STW command, but with no effect. :inquisitive:

Very true, MTW is effectively the same thing as Shogun. It's just an update with a different era/setting.

Hi guys,

Well your thought KotR, is as good as any at this point. We simply don't know and that is what we (I at least) are trying to change here.... :mickey:

miamivice sounds like it may have something to do with spys/assassins (or the catching of...), or their buildings (brothels/taverns).

maybe it stops the AI training spys/assassins or makes sure that all spys assassins get caught, or that they NEVER get caught, i.e. border forts dont catch them.

Or possibly all of your spies and assassins suddenly start wearing really gaudy clothing and driving around in an impossible to miss bright red carriage? ~:pimp: :laugh4:

Maybe it isn't a cheat at all? For example, if you type in one of the "actual" cheats for MTW, but misspell it, do you get the same result (ie nothing)?

Perhaps one of the STW players could help here....

Hi again,

Yeah, if you don't type in the cheat exacly right, you get no effect at all. You have basically "ruined" all possibilities for further cheats on that turn. You will have to wait for the next turn essentially. Having said that, I personally find it very unlikely that the ".booyakasha." and ".miamivice." don't have any effect at all in MTW. Otherwise it would have been completely redundant to have the game verify the commands via SFX. Don't you think? No i'm fairly certain that the rascals do something, I just don't know what. :mickey:

On that note has had trouble using the .matteosartori. cheat? I use it sometimes, when i want a screenshot of the entire map,but since I installed Xi + the tyberius mod,it just doesn't want to work for some reason..

Hi Oz,

That's really strange... All the cheat commands are linked to the .EXE-file and as such it should not matter whether you play regular or other versions of MTW. What version are you running the mod on? Era? Gold-Edition? Or is it regular/old with VI-expansion (then it should work)? It might be connected to some of that. I am unsure here, are you sure you have actually typed it in correctly? The hole thing certainly seems strange...

It seems fairly obvious that .miamivice. has something to do with vices. Have you checked yours after entering the code? Perhaps it clears vices, prevents vices or something in that direction.

Oz, are you sure you have your game set on "debug"-mode? Check that, because it might be the reason for all this. Anyway, if you are positive that you got your debug-mode set up and it still don't work out for you, then press "G" and you get the exact same effect... Problem solved!

Ok, other than that; how about those cheats that actually started this thread? Any ideas or discoverys with those anyone?!?

I've some testing in .miamivice. but I have not discovered what it does apart from the SFX confirmation. Maybe it's just a relic from beta testing, that has been removed in the retail version. Maybe it really does something, one thing I have "kinda" noticed is that the vices of my princes seem to worsen after I've typed it in.
But they could just be adulterous loons with questionable loyalty.
Anyway, I will keep trying, maybe there is something to it.

Well Hans....

How are things going?!? I must admit that I am curious on yer results and no one else seems to have a clue what these two mysterious cheats actually do. Personally I am utterly convinced that they do something to the game - otherwise it would have never been an audio-confirmation on a correct command... :wink2:

At any rate, good luck with your investigation on this.
