View Full Version : Creative Assembly Re-naming the forum
(Original suggestion courtesy of Monk):
The forums for the other Total War titles all have their own names -- the Sword Dojo for Shogun, Main Hall for Medieval, Colosseum for Rome, etc. Now that we're getting closer to Empire's release, perhaps it's time to give this place a more specific name of its own as well.
What should this forum be called? The floor is now open to suggestions! :beam:
Well since i guess you called me out Martok i'll offer up the first suggestion. :laugh4:
Since this is the first TW game to include naval battles, the Shipyard might work well. The Barracks, if a little generic, could also fit. Looking forward to the suggestions of others for this!

I like The Parliament, Mailman. Good one. Maybe The National Assembly, The Estates-General, The Directory, too, would be ok. But Mailman's The Parliament is cool.

Thus far, I would have to say that The Estates-General is probably my personal favorite, with the Chancellery and Parliament rounding out my top three choices. About the only idea I can think of myself would be The Docks (or possibly The Dockyard), but I like these three better. :yes:

The overall one at least.
The Academy/The Military Academy are my suggestions, but I support the Chancellory as well.

Well, if it needs to be in line with the names on the other sub-forums, then it should be an imposant building where decision-makers met. Though I love the nautical stuff, I think it would be lopsided...
So I concur on "the parliament", or if it needs to be a broader european scope perhaps The Council Chambers or Chancellory.

It's odd, because I don't have this problem when thinking of actual Parliaments, but the forum name The Parliament just gets me thinking all Funkadelic.

What about the General Assembly for the single player discussion? And the Drill Square as the multiplayer discussion forum, with the University holding the guides, going by the structure of the M2TW forums?
How about the Redoubt for the singleplayer, and maybe the Foundry or the Steelworks or some such Industrial Revolution themed name for the modding forum?
As for the multiplayer, surely the only appropriate name would be the Duelling Field?

In medieval times the king would be in the Citadel, but if your glourious leader is skulking in a Redoubt you're in trouble.
I think the name should reflect the change in times, thats why i like Coffe house or Parliament or Chancellery - places where important chaps get together and discuss the burning issues of the day

Redoubt is fine, but we're more than just a general, we are the leaders of our nations.
In medieval times the king would be in the Citadel, but if your glourious leader is skulking in a Redoubt you're in trouble.

I suggested that as well, then I remembered thats the name for the Multiplayer Section in M2TW. So for uniqueness' sake, I think we will leave that alone.

I mean conservatievely speaking (without delays :laugh4:) the game is slated for Feb , so you still have a solid 3 months until you are a month away from release. I mean it's not like this forum is over flowing with information at the moment. Sure we get random interview every 2 weeks and a dev diary now and then. I mean does that really warrant seperate forums at the moment tho?

I'd like to put forward another vote in support of The Parliament.
I also feel like we should try and encorporate the Industrial side of things somehow. What about The Factory or The Factory Floor?
The Parliament works well with Mutiplayer I feel. Factory Floor has a mod related feel about it.
Also does anyone like the name The Embassy or The Imperial Embassy?

You could also have things like:

The Admiralty
The Ministry (Of War)
I don't think Parliament gives the real focus of the game as that gives the impression of lots of old fat people shouting, falling asleep and calling each other names.
For Multiplayer I would just call it The Field
