Since the only quote threads ended in 2005, and I am not a fan of necroposting, I have made this thread for everyone to post any quotes that are thought provoking, funny or are just interesting in general. I will start with some Carl Sagan...

"Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere." -Carl Sagan (Cosmos page 4)

There is no limit on quote length and sourcing would be nice for those who might want to read more from a particular person. (Got mine from wikiquotes, don't know how accurate they are).

My recent times have been enlightened with the wisest set of words one mind could speak on behalf of me:

Loneliness does not come from having no people about one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.

I should have been able to meet that brain so as to be better. Feeling understood always eases your pain since it yields a delusion of not being lonely at least to an extent.

In Science we have finally come back to the pre-Socratic philosopher Heraclitus, who said everything is flow, flux, process. There are no "things." NOTHINGNESS in Eastern language is "no-thingness." We in the West think of nothingness as a void, an emptiness, an nonexistence. In Eastern philosophy and modern physical science, nothingness — no-thingness — is a form of process, ever moving. - Bruce Lee

I would say that depends on the quote, honestly. If you're not sure, just PM me and/or Hosa and we'll sort it out quickly.

While we're on quotes, here's a great one I read yesterday:

"Usually, terrible things that are done with the excuse that progress requires them are not really progress at all, but just terrible things." — Russell Baker

And a big one to live by:

"Humor is the great thing, the saving thing. The minute it crops up, all our irritations and resentments slip away and a sunny spirit takes their place." — Mark Twain

My all-time favorite quote:

Ernie Pyle-
In their eyes as they pass is not hatred, not excitement, not despair, not the tonic of their victory - there is just the simple expression of being here as though they had been here doing this forever, and nothing else.

A Friend of Mine-
"No one said it was gonna be easy! If it was, everyone would do it..that's who you know who really wants it."

Our beloved Bierut discussing the tragedies of life

Bierut-
All us men suffer in equal parts, it's our lot in life, and no man goes without a broken heart or a lost love. Like holding your dog as he takes his last breath and dies in your arms, it's a rite of passage. Unavoidable. And honestly, I can't imagine life without that depth of feeling.-Bierut
Bierut's Post (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showpost.php?p=1731951&postcount=7)

Just some good ones I like:

Cullen Hightower-
"Laughing at our mistakes can lengthen our own life. Laughing at someone else's can shorten it."

Robert McNamara-
And the conventional wisdom is: don't make the same mistake twice. Learn from your mistakes. And we all do. Maybe we make the mistake three times, but hopefully not four or five.

And two random ones:
