This has been covered to a small extent on this board and a bit more on the other board. Its about the length of the campaign. I feel like my time is too limited, especially for someone who likes to play as slowly as me and likes to start from the late period. I've read the suggestions to simply change the start date for the late periods in the .txt but while this worked to give me plenty of time, it has one major flaw. If I edit the .txt so that the late period date starts at the year 100, I experience absolutely no events, and while I have the buildings to build late period units, if any of them get destroyed, I cant rebuild those buildings. So is there any way to extend my play time indefinetaly while still experiencing events and being able to use the relevant technologies?

I seriously doubt it.
But that CA guy is around so maybe he can help. Should this not be in the tech forum?
(flood control delays my post http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif oh well)

The historical events have specific ranges within which they'll appear, so just putting the start year back will disable them. Your best bet is to find one of the threads which mentions how to clock a saved game on from 1452 to 1454, thus skipping the end-of-game check.

Hang on, before you do that, you may want to try setting the end date to something different with target's new start pos command. I can't remember what the command is now, I'll check when I go back to work tomorrow, it's something along the lines of set_enddate::

I'd be much obliged to ya. Playing the Italians I've made great strides in taking over the map, but feel pressured to blitzkrieg to stay ahead of the time limit. I just wanna trade and upgrade in peace! Then maybe I'll attack once I have all my territories upgraded to citadels with culverns http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
This interest me too.It would be a nice added extra to extend the time period to allow you to play a "develop my empire to its full potential" type game.

If your primary problem is getting higher tech units within the allowable timeframe, you could try mod'ing the build times. I halved all the build times in the game, and I've found the SP campaign to be much more enjoyable. (AI gets the same build times, so it doesn't give you an advantage).

Thats a good suggestion, but my primary purpose is simply to alleviate my personal discomfort with time limits. I can enjoy the game much more knowing I can expand or sit around whenever I please. There are just some times when my empire is thriving and I'm just loath to attack someone.

As I am a dumb ass, can someone please explain how and/or where I enter this and other commands. Thanks in advance!
