Online Campaign

Hi. Well, it's been awhile since I posted under Anjin-san, and I can't seem to get that name back. Oh well. Is it just me or is anybody concerned that we may "never" see this part -online campaign- of the game implemented? I realized they have touted this for the expansion pack, but they did the same for the original release of the game, did they not, and they talked like they would patch the original game to get this feature working. I've been playing since the demo days and made 10 plus scenarios for the demo, and this added feature, along with a good editor, will make this an excellent game. It just worries me, along with everyone else, that they are having so much trouble getting this to work, since they've had, what, two years to get it working. I just hope they get it right. Thanks

And as far as the online campaign is concerned, I would like to believe that they've actually done something about the various problems they've had - with any luck, even resolved some of them. Nothing is impossible, at least if they're willing to rework the strategic engine a bit.

However, we are now forced to consider the very real possibility that they'll want to devote their resources to something more fruitful than a free download. It would be much more sensible for them to flesh it out for Total War 2, instead. Even I'm not 100% optimistic about this... But they gave us their word. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif

hopefully that is the key right there Anssi -- if they plan on producing it for STW 2, then they would be developing it anyway, so they might 'test' it out as a patch for the mongols.

they said it will be availabe for download.

A few regular players tried a multiplayer campaign, but I have no idea what became of it.

by the time the multiplayer campaign comes out, nobody will care since we'd have all moved to bigger and better things...

STW is already down to $20 (US) and it's only a matter of, what, a year? before the warlords eventually finds itself down there, too; oversahdowed by the next big games and hot topics. My prediction: multiplayer cmpaign will be scrapped.
