I am getting alot of loading ctds in the palmyra + Hierosolyma areas while fighting the seleucids + egyptians. basically, all of my ctds are concentrated in those regions in my KH campaign. the game crash immediately as it tried to load the battle map. if I refrain from attacking and move to a different tile, the game will stop crashing(I retreat if the ai attack on the ctd tile).

sorry for the crummy discription, even though there are only 8 tiles with 4 straight and 4 diagonal tiles surrounding a city.

lets say the cities are the numbers on the keyboard forming a square. the first loading ctd I had was when I was sieging diagonally to the number 7(upper left corner of the city) of palmyra. it is 100% reproducible in my game as I have 4 ctds before I gave up and reseige at a different angle. same with hierosolyma, but at the 1(buttom left corner). I had 5 straight ctds before I decided to retreat first(just want to comfirm the bug) and fight. also 1 tile down, the 3rd tile down from the diagonal tile of the number 1 corner of hierosolyma city, my attacking stack attacking a stack (that is 2 tiles down from the number 2 tile(south gate) of hierosolyma city) I get constant ctds here also. that is the newest ctd I found with the tiles in that area :(

uploaded my save game. what can cause this? because these ctds is just like the alexandria ctd in the 1.1 fixes thread.

edit: forgot to mention that I have all of the 1.1 fixes, since I just got a new pc and had to reinstall. I change the forest density of battle maps to 512, I triple checked it to make sure all the spacing is correct. that can't be the problem right?

edit: filefront link to save game on the 3rd persistent ctd. http://files.filefront.com/ctdzip/;12149879;/fileinfo.html

Does the game freeze or crash? The problem at Alexandria (and the Mytilene land bridge) was that an army didn't find any place to deploy initially, and the symptom was that the game froze once the battle deployment button was clicked. It doesn't sound like entirely the same problem in these cases, but there could still be some problem with the map tile of course.

Perhaps the units involved could also be a part of it. Have you tried to attack with only one unit?

The changed forest spacing could be a problem I guess. I don't have any experience with that part, but you could try to change it back to the original values perhaps?

ahh, then it is different, my game crashes and sent me to the desktop everytime. the battle map doesn't load at all, as the game ctds as it loads.

I will try attacking with 1 single unit by disbaning all but 1.

I am replacing the modded vegetation file with the back up before I modded, will edit with results.

edit: just tried it twice, with the original vegetation file and with only my greek general. ctds as the loading screen shows up on both tries. just to be clear, this is the 3rd persistent ctd in the first post with the same save game.

I have already move on in my campaign, but I want to let you guys know about these ctds.

I often get CTDs too often to make the campaign fun enough to play. Cheating (gasp!) through some battles and trying to balance casualties inflicted vs casualties taken in a way similar to what would have happened if I had fought them is often the only way to go. Eg, fighting 4 large battles in a turn and have it consistently CTD at the 2nd or 3rd battle after earning hard victories becomes incredibly frustrating and cheating sometimes becomes the only realistic option.

that would never work if those battles are fought during ai's turn no? I have never use cheats except the process cq cheat to check and see what units I can build in new regions I conquered. can cheats be use even during ai's turn? because I understand your frustration. I have had that happen to me alot on my old pc. right now, I change the way I play, I try to destroy ai stacks on my turn so I can quick save before battles, even if I ctd, it would just be 1 battle. not a loss of multiple battles = 30min to 1 hours of lost game time.

my EB crashes sometimes when I use the 6x speed or move my camera really fast about the field as I order my units about. but this also happens in m2tw. before I encountered these persistent ctds in the mid east regions, I have only had like 1 ctd for every few hours of play(random rtw ctds, nothing anyone can do, I even get these playing the most recent versions of m2tw: kingdoms), which was enjoyable.

Some cheats can be used in the AIs turn, yes, such as auto_win which is often a way to get past problems like this one.

I'm having the same problem but it's happening with every single battle on this casse game. I've tried starting a new campaign and the battles don't crash.
