______________
FAQ about my playing style:
1. As a veteran of RE 2 Code Veronica, I have the annoying habit of being extremely prudent with my ammunition. I never, ever, run out of ammo, and I conserve bullets whenever possible.
2. I prefer playing with the controls inverted.
3. I never, ever, buy first-aid sprays. I consider buying a first-aid spray a failure.
4. My preferred handguns, in order
_A) Red9, no stock, full upgrade (max firepower, less space, old-school charm)
_B) Handgun, full upgrade (max firing speed, least space, least expensive, critical headshot)
_C) Punisher, full upgrade (Fire through several zombies... useful)
_D) Blacktail, for it's vaunted power and capability... not my favorite though.
_E) Matilda... Pointless when you have other weapons.
5. My preferred shotguns, in order
_A) Striker, full upgrade (Max ammo, wideshot)
_B) Shotgun, full upgrade (Long distance shooting, prefer tougher handling for fun, old-school charm)
_C) Riot Gun (Powerful, good handling but either of the other shotguns has an advantage over the Riot Gun)
6. My preferred rifles, in order
_A) Semi-Auto Rifle (Superior handling, semi-automatic, excellent exclusive upgrade)
_B) Rifle (old school-charm... but utterly atrocious and bolt action interrupts firing)
7. TMP
I have found that you don't even need this weapon outside of El Gigante fights and Shield-using cultists. So, save your money. Don't buy.
Makes me sad to say, because the TMP is truly a useful, fun weapon to use. But if you have to make the cut, cut here first.
8. Rocket Launcher
Truly useful in avoiding boss fights, and avoiding loss of ammo and health. Best places to use:
_A) Versus El Gigante (any)
_B) Versus Bitores Mendez (Real time saver!)
_C) Versus twin Garradors in later part of Castle Stage
_D) Versus Verdugo (almost required!)
_E) Versus Salazar (useful... cuts battle to a matter of seconds if used properly.
_F) Versus U3 (useful, but I prefer to fight this battle myself. Too much fun...)
_G) Versus Krauser (um... you can kill Krauser with your KNIFE. Don't waste.)
_H) Versus Saddler (I believe 1 rocket to the eye finishes the fight...)
Don't buy the Rocket Launcher unless you're doing a speed run or want to wimp out.
9. Mine Thrower
Never used it.
10. Handcannon
Definitley worth it. Gigantes take two shots, other bosses drop like flies.
11. Chicago Typewriter
The most useful and powerful weapon in the game. Can replace every other weapon besides the semi-auto rifle, and if you want a challenge, that one too.
12. Infinite Launcher
Meh. Too powerful and dangerous. Just put that thing away. More of a trophy than a weapon.
13. Magnums
_A) Broken Butterfly: (Free, upgrades to 50 firepower, and has old-school charm...)
_B) Handcannon: (Unlimited Ammo, Ultimate Magnum, 99.9 Firepower) Strong... eliminates challenge.
_C) Killer7: (Waste of money, handcannon and butterfly more powerful. Best handling)

Normal Mode (First Run:)
Use Handgun, Shotgun, Rifle, Broken Butterfly only. You can beat the game rather easily with these, just upgrade them fully. Don't buy TMP or Broken Butterfly, but take the free BB in the castle stage. Gain as much treasure and pesetas as possible, goal is Chicago Typewriter.
Upgrade priorities:
Broken Butterfly (max out firepower to help defeat bosses and tough foes)
Shotgun (most useful weapon in your arsenal)
Handgun (max upgrade easy to get, cheap... critical headshot, quick and easy to reload, handling excellent.
Rifle (afterthought... rifle is powerful enough, if you add a couple upgrades. Otherwise it sucks anyway.)
Normal Mode (Second Run)
Get Chicago Typewriter ASAP, preferably from first Merchant.
When you get Typewriter, sell the following: Handgun, Shotgun, Broken Butterfly. If you need to sell these to get 1,000,000 pesetas, do it. Sell rifle too (if necessary).
Upgrade priorities:
Main weapon already maxed out (typewriter)
Obtain Semi-Auto Rifle, exclusive upgrade it.
Obtain Striker, exclusive upgrade it.
Obtain Handcannon/Broken Butterfly, exclusive upgrade it.
Save grenades, sell or stockpile them. (Hand grenade sells for 2,000)
Save health items, sell or stockpile them. (RGY sells for 10,000), use greens, eggs, and first aid sprays for health instead.
Be sure to max out treasures before sale.
Save pesetas for third run, if necessary.

Professional Mode (First run)
You need to be more careful here, unless you want a real challenge.
Priority:
Village Stage:
1. Obtain Shotgun (village)
2. Obtain Red9 (merchant, village stage)
3. Max upgrade Red9 every oppurtunity
4. Don't upgrade shotgun, don't upgrade rifle.
5. Use TMP and upgrade power and capacity when you can afford it.
Castle Stage:
1. Sell Shotgun for RiotGun, upgrade firepower a couple times only.
2. Sell Rifle for Semi-Auto Rifle, upgrade firepower at your leisure.
3. Upgrade Red9 to max, always.
4. Keep upgrading TMP, at your leisure.
5. Stockpile health and grenades
6. Save rocket Launcher for Verdugo, use magnums and mad skills to beat the 2 garradors instead.
Island Stage:
1. Sell RiotGun for Striker, upgrade reload speed and capacity
2. Max Upgrade Red9
3. Max Upgrade Semi-Auto Rifle
4. Keep getting ammo upgrades for TMP (free bullets)
5. Upgrade Broken Butterfly for U3 Fight, keep magnum bullets for U3 fight.
6. Kill Krauser with Knife... magnums to the knee if necessary.
7. Get Infrared Scope, use to kill regenerators and iron maidens easily. Use incendiaries and TMP ammo to finish if necessary.
8. Allow Mike to do the dirty work in the helicopter stage. Don't waste any health.
9. Use Semi-auto rifle to waste gattling enemies, or magnums.
10. Use striker (eyes), green grenades (body) magnum (head/eye) and knife (head/eye) to damage Saddler... use Rocket Launcher to finish.
_________________
Professional Mode (Second Run)
1. Max Red9 or get Chicago Typewriter
2. Max Semi-Auto Rifle
3. Max Butterfly/Handcannon
4. Max Striker
5. Max TMP or get Chicago Typewriter
Typewriter is top priority... if out of reach, focus on max out other weapons.
6. Stockpile ammo and health. Obtain all treasures, even harder to reach ones.
7. Keep rocket launcher around for boss battles, if necessary.
Save pesetas for third run, if necessary.
_________________
No Merchant Run:
1. Handgun (no upgrades)
2. Free Shotgun (no upgrades)
3. Free Broken Butterfly (no upgrades)
Priorities:
1. Ammo... ammo is like health. You run out, you die. And ammo can lead to more health... or prevent you from losing health.
2. Grenades... grenades are your main source of firepower, unlike other games, you will actually be using grenades for bosses and tough spots, rather than your shotgun/magnum.
3. Health... don't waste any health. Combine Yellows with Greens ASAP, combine Reds with Green/Yellows ASAP, use first aid sprays and eggs and fish, etc, instead of using greens, unless you have a RGY herb mix to use. Don't use full health upgrades unless you're in the lower yellow/red.
4. Caution: You can run past many enemies, and you DONT NEED ANY TREASURE. Skip anything you can skip which may be dangerous, stockpile grenades for the boss fights, and don't ever waste magnum ammo. Get Broken Butterfly ASAP.
5. Shotgun/Handgun combo:
Use your shotgun for stunning crowds only. Don't use when you can switch to your handgun and use up worthless handgun ammo picking off zombies. They drop more handgun ammo all the time. Shotgun ammo is surprisingly plentiful when you have only these weapons.
6. Verdugo: You can avoid Verdugo and take the elevator. Freeze, dodge, run. You CAN kill him with lots of green grenades, shotgun blasts, freezings, and magnum bullets... but since the result is treasure, why bother?
7. Krauser: Use the knife method.
8. Salazar: Shotgun to the tentacle, then the eye, magnum to Salazar himself.
9. Regenerator: Run towards, run back to cause them to try to grab and miss, then run past them. Don't bother getting infrared scope, just exit freezer with card key.
10. Iron Maiden: Fire extinguisher Blast, many, many incendiaries, shotgun rounds, and magnums to finish. Burn off incendiaries one at a time, coupled with shotgun rounds... let him get back up, use more incendiaries, etc. Don't waste magnums unless forced to.
Hardest Enemy in the Game. Your weapons are almost useless, grenades are all that saves you. You cannot avoid the fight.
11. Iron Maiden Twins: You can slow first one down with gates, push the crate, goad the other to the "loop" area, and run past second one. Easy, regenerator-avoiding tactic.
12. More regenerators: You can goad them into the "loop" of the rooms, also cause them to grab and miss with clever run forward/back maneuvers. Regenerators are too slow/dumb.
13. U3: Green Grenades, Red drums, Magnums to the top head, gates to slow him down while you magnum his face, incendiaries when he digs upwards to stun him. Run with grenades for extra speed, dont run with guns.
14. Use knife/handgun/magnum against Krauser. Conserve Magnums unless your health depends on it.
15. Saddler... oh so easy. Use green grenades and rifles to the eye, two levers/steel girders, red drums, to stun Saddler. Use magnum against the eye, then use mount/knife as well before he recovers.
16. Run to the end and you're done again! Good job!
