Roman spamming

As I've noted in my Aedui and Epeiros campaigns, the Romans spam Illyrioi Paraktioi once they capture Patavium/Segestica. Does anybody else ever see the Romans doing this?

Also many of their armies are all-Triarii and P. Extraordinarii, as others have stated before.

I have yet to see a PE in any of the Roman armies in my KH campaign. They seem to spam Akontistai, with Triarii taking up most of the remaining space.

I did notice this, in my current Getai campaign when I took Segestica, Patavium, and Bononia from them, a sizeable part of the forces they sent against me were Illyrioi Paraktioi.

Also they do love the P. Extraordinarii and Triarii, but I've seen plenty of Hastati and Roarii, too. Very few Principes in my campaign, though.

Roman recruitment is an issue. In my QartHadastim campaign they keep sending large and expensive armies of Pedites Extrodinarii and Triarii to their deaths, it's ruining the balance.

Only their fullstacks seem to be balanced, if that. Sometimes even those are half Illyrioi.

So, we've Identified 2 problems:

Romans spamming Paraktioi
Romans spamming P. Extraordinarii and Triarii

Also Carthage spams Akontistai

The problem with the romans is that everybody knows how a roman legion should look like. On the other factions we dont care as much :P

I recently landed in Taras as the Epeirots (it's payback time) and upon landing I see Caivs Avrelivs Cotta just out of reach and march towards him. Next turn he recruited an ENTIRE stack of merc infantry man and forced me into a massive battle. I mean that army must have cost like 80-90K Mnai! What the hell! And then after that I get a stack of triarii and PE in Campania and the same in Roma itself! It was crazy!

Mind you, the only reason I can think of that the Romans have rubbish army composition is that they are expected to choose Hastati and Princepes and Rorarii et al in proportion when they can afford to build PEs and Triarii galore! What would you do if you were the maks with 1,000,000 Mnai? Would you have akonsitai or Makedonian Peltastai? Would you have Pezhetarioi or Deuteroi? The computer doesn't understand realism, it understands bang for it's buck!

but after defeating those 3 full stacks, a new mercenary army from Northern Italy attacked and reclaimed Rome.:furious3:


But the joke is on them, because I have two fresh new armies trained from the spoils of taking Rome which will finally finish them off.:laugh4:
