So back when Froggy first mentioned Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come a couple weeks ago, I'd quick checked out the developer Neocore's website (http://www.neocoregames.com/index.php?action=1). I hadn't paid particular attention to it at the time, other than to peruse info on the Crusaders game.

On a lark, however, I just visited their site again tonight, and this time realized that they're apparently hard at work on King Arthur (http://www.neocoregames.com/index.php?action=2&stid=king_arthur). I have to admit, I think this game intrigues me even more than Crusaders does. If it improves on the problems of its predecessor, I think it might actually be worth looking into. I hope, I hope.... :sweatdrop:

A new trailer (http://ve3d.ign.com/videos/39320/Atari-2600/King-Arthur) is out, showing off the game's battle engine (although it was sometimes hard to tell which scenes were pre-rendered). It looks pretty cool on the surface, but again it's maybe best to wait and see whether the game avoids the problems in its predecessor Crusaders: Thy Kingdom Come.

[Martok casts Greater Resurrection spell]

Woot! Looks like we have a release date (http://www.kingarthurthewargame.com/main.html): November 12th. :jumping:

Well, okay....sort of. The announcement says that, come Nov. 12, the game will be available in English "on the biggest digital download sites" and that "in the coming months it will hit stores as well".

Hopefully this means King Arthur will be on Impulse. Even more hopefully, it will be available on store shelves in the not-too-distant future as well, although I realize there will probably be a delay. I'm guessing being able to grab the game at my local Best Buy in time for Christmas is unlikely, but would it be too much to hope that it'll at least be on shelves by the end of January or February? (Oh, how I wish!) :sweatdrop:

Also, there are 3 developer diary videos available (4 if you count the extended version for the 2nd one): The 1st video covers general gameplay, the 2nd one discusses Heroes (particularly the legendary Knights of the Round Table), and the 3rd diary focuses on spells. A lot of good stuff there (despite some initial difficulty understanding what the devs were saying due to their Hungarian accents).

I'm especially intrigued by the fact you control how Arthur's character develops along two different axes: Rightful/Tyrant and Pagan/Christian. Depending on which "alignment" you choose, he'll gain access to certain powers/abilities (while being forbidden access to others as a result). In addition, Arthur's alignment will supposedly have a fairly big impact on how easy/difficult to recruit & retain the various Knights; i.e., a "Rightful Pagan" Lancelot might not be too keen on joining Arthur's cause if Arthur is a "Tyrannical Christian".

Man, this game just sounds more awesome with everything I see and hear. If the AI and gameplay are even halfway decent, I suspect this will end up being a "must-buy" for me.

Despite my misgivings about this game earlier (because it was from the same people who gave us Crusaders Kingdom Come) it sounds quite promising now....
(I'm crazy about King Arthur's legend and anything related)
Let's hope it hits stores soon enough.....and that they release a demo.

Update: The release date has been pushed back to November 24. Still no word on which stores it will appear in or when, other than "in the coming months".
