Well I've sent in all applications for university next year and I've started getting acceptance. Just got accepted to DePaul University with a $38,000 academic scholarship (4 years) so I'm feeling pretty good!

Who would have thought I'd go to Uni? :laugh4:

Where are other .Org members attending for Uni these days?

My UNI (http://www.uni.edu/) is the ultimate pun.

EDIT: Congrats on the Depaul thing. Depaul was on my top three list when I was deciding, but, alas, I did not get the scholarships I needed to justify the expense in comparison to my current school.

I goto a university in Caerleon, South Wales, on an access course to get onto a degree....

Congratulations on the scholarship! Is that for all your expenses, or just university related ?

Well I haven't made up my mind 100%, but if I decide to attend DePaul, that money would be strictly tuition costs. Other expenses will be considerably more...

...US Uni system is a lot different. :dizzy2:

Hmmm.....how did you get news of acceptance so fast?

The early decision/action deadlines were just last week and you won't even be able to get those decisions till mid December

In terms of the University aspect- I couldn't be happier with my choice.

I have no idea. I sent mine in at least a month ago. I think DePaul does rolling acceptance (as opposed to waiting until a certain date to look over applications like some bigger public schools do). I was pretty early with mine, so that might have helped.

You applying?

I got into the University of Vermont, St. Lawrence University and my current school Gettysburg College. I'm really happy with my choice. Being on a small campus is great, and most of the people here are pretty cool.

You've been to Cedar Falls? And no, Waterloo doesn't count, because I don't have a car. :wall:

No car? Uff da, that's rough. ~

Yeah, I've been to Waterloo/Cedar Falls, although I'll be darned if I can remember what the occasion was. Perhaps I was at UNI for a choral festival of some kind? I'm honestly blanking out now. I attended Luther College for a year (hence my reference to Decorah), during which I was also a member of Norsemen, the school's freshmen men's choir.

Anyway, I thought it was a nice enough town at the time. We're talking at least a good 10 years ago, though, so I may be recalling the place through the metaphorical rose-tinted lenses. ~;)

Well, its going to be nicer in about 2 years when they finish road work on the main roads. UNI is rife with horror stories about people losing hubcaps, license plates, side mirrors, even a whole wheel on occasion whilst traversing University avenue, due to the preponderance of potholes which would make a Manhattanite blush. :sweatdrop:

But ya, its nice enough, per say. Just... well... ...

Okay, actually, I'm not quite giving total due credit. We DO have the singe best sports bar in the entire Universe, Becks. Best burgers EVER. And if there's one thing we Iowans know how to do, its make a burger.

Right now i'm im the baptism before University, aka the International Baccalaureate (IB) and I calculated that if everything goes well I should be able to get between 41 and 43 points. I know it's very optimistic, but it's my points to lose right now, as I have 3 subjects in which I can get 7 without a doubt. The single question mark is Math, as it goes around 5-6.

That means I might go to Oxbridge (Oxford or Cambridge) for Medieval History.
Anyone here who went/goes to one of these?

Becks, you say? Hmm, perhaps I'll have to concoct an excuse for a road trip to Iowa one of these days.... ~D

No, just wierd since Yale Early Action only tells you its decision December 15th.....

Now, I just have to finish writing like 7 more college essays for regular decision...

I've been accepted by UW-Stevens Point and UW-La Crosse. UW-Madison has informed me that they are delaying their final descision on my application until March. Until then I can send in my semester grades(required), new ACT scores(I probably won't retake it), and recommendation letters(They really like recommendation letters). About 40% of delayed descision applications end up getting accepted. I think I'll be fine if I get good reccomendation letters.

I'm in my last semester at the University of Hawaii at Manoa studying European history. Started out as a computer science major but found out I was not good at programming so switched to my 'love' though I now think I should have gone into business or electrical engineering.

Hey Ah, what sort of qualification are you applying for? And what programme are you doing in high school?

How is the application process?

I have applied through UCAS and my application had to be in on October 15th. I did the HAT (history aptitude test, Oxbridge's special history test) and handed in 2 essays on friday to Oxford. If I am called to interview and am given an offer it will be AAA for 3 A levels. (sorry, I don't do IB, just boring old A levels.)

Anything else I can say to help you?

Next year, I'm gonna do European Studies at the University of Twente in Enschede, The Netherlands.

I still have to sign up though, but that shouldn't be a problem :beam:

Thanks for the info. I hope you get an offer, perhaps in 2-3 years we can meet on the Oxford/Cambridge campus if you get accepted and I get accepted too. ~:)

I applied for the UTN (National Technical University).

And I'm lucky considering that I have to pay the admitting course and nothing more. That costed me 200 pesos, something like 66 dollars. The UTN is the most important University of engineers in the country. I'm currently going to the admitting course which is nivelatory once per 15 days, and the travel is damn worth.

In conclusion, I go to University, spend half day out home and if everything goes ok with HS (you can't enter Uni unless you failed some subject and didn't take the exam in december or march) I will be entering University in March next year.

I will be alone. Freedom not wanted, but got it.
