My First MP game

I just played my first MP game, and it was EASY! With a capital E!! The guy had lots o' Naginata and lots o' archers. He charged down the hill at my guns with all his naginata, and left his archers to rot. I proceeded to utilize the speed (or rather, lack thereof) of Naginata to skirmish with my guns, while keeping them occupied with my YS. Meanwhile, I tore into his archers with my monks, and routed all of them, with heavy losses on their part. Then, coming around and enveloping the Naginata by the same route they came at my teppo, I slaughtered the Naginata, their general already routing from the guns.


Am I good or was my opponent bad? Are most people on the internet this bad?


P.S. This was on Yamato, and he set up behind the left forest, from the attackers POV.
P.P.S. Why are guns called teppo?
P.P.P.S. When you download a map, where do you put it so Shogun can use it?

Well I would say that you got a newbie in your first game. His army was not very well balanced but for that army you used pretty good tactics.

When adding extra maps the readme has instructions on how to install them. But for most of the maps created are in the map pack which can install them for you. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Makes me remember my first online game. I just started playing MP and kept getting dropped. So i switched to Softmode and everything was all right in the MP games. In, softmode, you have to use the cursor keys to move the screen, while in the other mode where your men go, the screen follows them. I didnt know this at first.
So, there i sent my army, as the were going downhill toward the valley, they just kept getting smaller and smaller until all i can see were the banners in the distance. So here I was, moving the mouse around and swearin at my PC cus I couldnt zoom in on my army. Then I heard sword clashing and gunfire, and said to myself. Thats my army gettin slaughtered. Then the voice came on and said, "The Enemy Taisho is runnin like a whipped dog" By this time I figured to use the cursor keys and zoomed in to see my army rout the other guy, just lmao. It was low koku game, 4 units each
