This is not about the cavalrymen but rather about the character trait per se. I detected it while going through desc_VNV's, but I've never had a member of my Roman family turning into a member of the Equestrian Class. Have you ever and how likely is it that one of my men will turn into them?

The trait is actually called "Eques" if I am not mistaken. I actually have one of my FMs (an adopted mercenary general) with this trait. The perquisite for this trait is the "Wealthy" trait, and the FM with this trait also has the "Very Wealthy" trait, which probably makes it even more likely for one to become a member of the Equites. The probability of someone getting this trait is in the export_desc_character_traits. Here is a part of it:

WhenToTest CharacterTurnEnd

Condition FactionType seleucid
and Trait Plebeian > 0
and Trait Wealthy > 0
and Trait Eques < 1

Affects Eques 1 Chance 10

The FM with this trait was a plebeian and he was wealthy.

"Equites" is the Latin plural for "Eques".

But thanks, anyway, though it seems not very useful if the character's climbing the Cursus Honorum. Maybe I can send them to some province so they can act as or on behalf of the Publicani, especially adequate for a selfish character.

maybee you need to expend more, non?

I heard that if your treasury went over than 50'000 your FMs would start getting nasty traits

With the Romani, gold soon turns from a blessing into an issue.

well it depends, I had once 2 family member who had very wealthy
one had been campaining against seleucia since he went out of the agoge ,he sacked enough city's to become very wealthy
the other one was the governor of dalmation with a fully upgraded mine
so basically there are 2 ways to get the trait
also wealthy and very wealthy heightens influence but lowers safety
