View Full Version : Syrakosioi Hoplitai for Karthadastim

Hello,
i just read that a lot of the greek mercenaries fighting for Karthadast, are Syrakousian (Diod.20,39,4f). Some of them fighting as Hoplitai, other were Peltasts and Horseman.
So is it "historical" to add the Syrakosioi Hoplitai to Karthadastim?

i agree, but that can be solved by adding greek merc's to the region, there is no need to add them in factional mic's

I don't know if they are available to Carthage through regional MIC in Syrakousai. I don't think so however...

OK, at the moment, they are not available for Karthadast. nor as merc or reg-mic. they only build the beginning garrison. After siege and ocupation, only the normal version of hoplitai is available in the reg-mic -the same goes out for Massilia, and the Massaliotai Hoplitai, but i think they are available for Karthadast.

I think the hoplitai from Syrakousai use the same model as a Kart-Hadast unit and cannot be recruited by Kart-Hadast.

Yep, they use the same model as the Liby-Phoenician spearmen, so you can't add them to their roster.

Tartaros, are you sure that the Carthaginians are able to recruit Massilian Hoplitai? I think according to the RV they are only recruitable to KH and both Gallic factions. I could be misstaken, though.

No, at the moment they are also not. That´s why i ask.
one advantage is: that Massaliotai Hoplitai are available as Merc.
but the
Syrakosioi Hoplitai are completly out... Nor as Merc or Reg.MIC

I read much about there service in the karthadast army, so if karthadast can recruit neitos and Gaesatae, i think it should be also historical to add them, so that they can recruit Syracousai and probably Massaliotai Hoplitai in the Reg.MIC.
