Has anyone ever tried to get involved in local level politics? Like Town Councilman/woman or something?

Or even something modest, such as a group that has a connection to a State or local level politician? I've had an interview with a State Senator and gone to a dinner with a bunch of local politico's, but I'm interested in doing more. There are very few young people involved in the G.O.P. over here for some reason. I know for a fact that there are a number of bright young people with Republican leanings, but the GOP does nothing to recruit new ideas.

I am very seriously considering doing that a few years in the future.

I may do so in 10-15 years, but in all likelihood I probably won't. I already actively campaign for the Local Greens group, but Demographics are against us here... I live in a very Conservative area and that seems unlikely to change.

I worked on Obama's primary campaign in Vermont while going door to door for my dad's select board campaign. It was interesting, but going to a town democrats meeting just reinforced my hatred for party politics, and from the way the Republican leadership in the area is I guarantee their meetings are at least as bad. The most important thing is my dad won, and he's a good select board chair. 40 or so votes is too slim a margin for my preference though.

Yes I've been involved in local politics for a long time so was my father. You should do it Tuff your a smart guy albeit somewhat misguided by the evil corrupting effect of conservatism as represented by the republican party. :wiseguy:

No really, run for a local seat you'll learn a lot and make good contacts. Of course I'd take what I say with a grain of salt, everyone knows Im full of it.... lol :toilet:
