I need some help [Archive]

It would seem i have a rather obsure problem, that i have yet to find some sort of solution to. What happens is whenever i play the full camign, the game freezes when i reach spring 1544 (playing as usegi clan) and spring 1533 (playing mori). The game even goes through all the events, harvest, different clan things etc. But then once its through, the game freezes, and the audio still plays i just cant move anything, and task manager says it isnt responding. I havnt tried all the clans, but this problem seems consistent for several of them, and i have no cllue what to do about it. So any advice or help would really be appriciated. Oh, btw i have shogun total war gold edition installed.

Huh, my best guess is something to do with the portuguse traders since it seems to be time specific...you could try not building any ports I suppose. Reinstall might be your best bet.

Try disabling all the in game videos and then try again.

Hey guys, thanks a lot for the help, but neither suggestion worked. I even tried switching back to the primary driver mode, instead of software mode, but this failed as well. I do have a 8800 running, but all problems save for the freezing, are fixed when im in software mode. I also tried several other clans than the ones i mentioned above, and it seems they freeze at different points in the game as well. Could it be i just have a corrupt copy of the game? Or what else could be going on?

I really want to play this game lol, so any help is appriciated.

I have a bit more info to add.

ALso i apologize for my rather incoherent posts above.

So anyway, for each clan i play in full camign the game freezes at some turn in the game. The turn that it freezes on is consistant for each clan each time i play up to that turn. Also, i noticed when the program stopps, vista brings up a window that says Shog_CCP has stopped working. Im not really sure what that is, but it could be the source of the problem.

SO any solutions would help, i dont think it has to do with the graphics or audio, since both work fine, up until the turn on which the game freezes. This is the only part of the game which seems messed up.

Also, is it possible to mod the game so i can choose what turn/year it is? i think that could fix the problem.

If for Uesugi it freezes in 1544, why not start your campain (sp?) in 1550?

A great idea, but it still FROZE AHHHH. I guess im screwed, man this really sucks i want to conqure Japan so bad. lol. Also i feel kinda dumb for not noticing how to change the time you start in the campign. But it still froze, so still lookin for some kinda fix, any help is apriciated thanks.

Software rendering may be your only option if you have a newer Nvidia card.

Consider it a challenge to conquer all of japan before 1544. If you look at the campaign stories thread you'll see some quick campaigns.

Have a 'quite new' nvidia card as well. And it gave problems too. I switched to a different mode in the graphics menu. (something called 'software')

Doesn't look half as good, and some controls seem to work different/not, but at least it all worked again.
