View Full Version : Loyal and Disloyal
What exactly is the definition of these traits? Is being Disloyal mean your not loyal to your Family and/or your Faction? Or does it simply mean you'r FM doesn't like to follow the system and prefers to do things his way?
I'm being puzzled how Some new FM that are Disloyal turn-out better than loyal ones, does a FM with the Disloyal trait become venal eventually?
Thanks and cheers!
Those traits just show the general's character, his propensity for getting certain traits. Treat him right, get him what he wants and he'll stay loyal.

Umm ok... a question out of topic. Is there a way to reverse negative traits? like for example i know the poor tactician trait can be reversed by winning battles against hard odds but what about traits that have (-) to management?
Thanks

Often times, when you get a general who is bad at commanding or at management, you need to give him a new job and not try to force him to be good at something he isn't.

Be more specific: which ones? However, usually most of the negative traits that affect management are irreversible.
Like for example Stadoffish(sp) and Midly Extravigant, i thought you only start getting Extravigant traits when you have more than 50000 but i get it with 20000 o.O

Check the export_desc_character_traits in the EB "Data" folder. Same place as EDU, BTW.
Standoffish trait is rather random. You get it when you have a Uncharismatic general. The Mildly Extravagant trait is a courtesy of your general staying too long in a small city or larger. By "long" I mean like ten years or even longer. Anyway, I just checked EDCT and the Mildly Extravagant is affected by only one thing: your general ending a turn in a large settlement. It seems that other traits associated with extravagance will not appear unless the "extravagant" trait appears. The "Extravagant" trait is the perquisite for other traits such as the "Indulgens" rather than the other way around. The Standoffish trait, oddly enough, is influenced by whether you Uncharismatic character was adopted or married (doesn't make sense, does it - having a wife is supposed to make you more sociable?!?).
Well that makes sense in the part of the Midly Extravagant issue of mine my FM has been in Capua for 12 yrs Lol. This is tad anoying O.O MY Standoffish issue is mostly from my FM coming of age and yeah i noticed its from the uncharismatic ones. It's rather hard getting good new FM, the best i had up till now was Dull Lol.

I've never had any problems. I have something like ten 10 influence and management generals with twenty more having 10 influence and countless number of more than five influence and management generals. Command stars don't really matter so much, but I do have a normally seven star general who gets ten stars when he is attacking.
Oh, and one thing that you might find interesting (if you did not know this already) is that there is six levels of the Sharp/Dull trait, six level of the Charismatic/Uncharismatic trait, six levels of Vigorous/Languorous trait, and seven levels of the combination of Selfless/Optimistic/Loyal traits. Just a random interesting fact.
EDIT: Oh, and BTW, the Standoffish trait really sucks as there is another closely tied trait that has to do with being antisocial. That trait almost always follows the Standoffish trait and the two traits can pretty quickly increase in threshold for a total influence penalty of -6 or -7. Good thing influence is so easy to gain in EB. Improving generals is really easy in EB.

This is why, for example, some of my "Sharp" generals are chock full of different traits associated with intelligence, like MathematicsSkill, RhetoricalSKill, PhilosophySkill, the Erudite Trait, NaturalPhilosophySkill, etc and have like 10 management while another "Sharp" general stays in a city with an Academy for five years and gets almost none of those traits. This is a result of different levels of intelligence. If one could only see these levels in the main EB campaign... One can only see if a general is Sharp or Dull, but not exactly how Sharp and how Dull he is, since there is six levels of this trait.

Aw, c'mon, what is so difficult about this; there is basically six levels of a general's intelligence, the higher the level/threshold, the more likely teh general is to get traits associated with intelligence. You put a gut who is "Natural_Genius" in a small city with any kind of Academy and he is going to get 10 influence and 10 management in 5 years of doing nothing but sitting in that city. I have had that happen to me more than once. A guy who's Far_Below_Average_Intelligence will probably never gain any kind of intelligence-based trait, even if it is the Tactician trait and he is a general who won five Heroic Victories in a row:
Trait: NaturalIntelligence
; o Far_Below_Average_Intelligence (1)
; o Below_Average_Intelligence (2)
; o Average_Intelligence (3)
; o Naturally_Sharp (4)

Yes, but did you get my point; do you understand what I meant by the six levels now?
Thanks for that mate! ....ugh i'l never accept Dull FM again i prefer them to be Langorious since that doesnt do much harm. If i remember correctly when cotta was 16 yr i decided to school him in Roma for 4 years and after that he gained 10 Management easily compared to Asina and Scipio who only had 6-7 at the same time Lol.

Hehe, that's funny. In my game, Cotta was also the guy who instantly got 10 management. The other starting 4 guys also got 10 influence and management, but they had to actually work for it :beam:, unlike Cotta. He probably has a very high level of Natural_Intelligence

is that like being a governor instead of general, or is it like conquering gaul instead of egypt? How advances is it?

It's like being a governor rather than a general or being a governor of a large town rather than a small town. There really isn't any negative effects from fighting the wrong enemy. Though you can get bonuses to fighting a specific enemy, like those "Hates Smelly Barbarians" traits.
