Well most of my battles are fought around the hellas, as I mostly play KH and Averni (even though I have Casse in my sig, i just thought the Casse picture looked cooler) So what strikes me as odd is where Hell's Pass/Gate (AKA Thermoplyae) is not on the tile where it should be. I know theres alotta posts about things related to that battle, but considering it was one of the only places a large army could pass through I thought it should be there.

Was there a reason Thermoplyae was not put in? game balance? pure annoyance of 300? or even just plain not knowing what the pass looked like in 272 BC? Or did the terrain change between the time of the Persian wars to 272 BC?
thanks

I think it just has to do with the fact that Battle Maps are randomly generated.

All you can do to change battles maps in a campaign, is changing the campaign map.
And changing the campaign map in such a way that you get Thermopylae, is IMHO impossible...

No, you can create custom tiles, but afaik recreating thermopylae is impossible withthe engine, not least because there is no incline steep enough that the units cannot walk up.

I seem to remember that... Oh well... Will it have an appearance in EBII? or same problems?

The Medieval 2-Engine is able to handle "no-go"-areas if the cliffs are too steep. At least I often had areas in my campaign battles where I couldn't move my units because there were too steep cliffs.

Yeh, that map pretty much sucked - using the default crap RTW units and barely any scripting. It was basically just the vanilla Spartan hoplites vs a bunch of crappy Parthian levy spearmen.

And the cliffs were 'traversable' so that the units literally got stretched into giants as soon as they walked onto the cliffs. Any archer unit on the cliffs could literally shoot across half the battlefield.
