I don't know. I may pick it up, but I am worried G n' R is going to stray too far from it's hard rock roots in this album. Times like these makes me wish Slash was still in the band :juggle2:

I've been thinking that for a while, but I am listening to some songs, so I will give some first impressions:
Axl still has his signature sound, and it still works.
Unfortunately, it did stray too far from it's roots. A lot of techno-style, industrial rock, Nine Inch Nails music. Dissapointing.
But, overall, it's worth a listen for those who like the band. Depends on your opinions on the current line up.

It was before the release off Offspring's Splinter album that I had seen this set of words to title that album (Offspring's) on a magazine, rather than it being titled "Splinter". Dexter Holland had said "Axl ripped my braids, so I'm ripping his album title". It never happened though, said to possess probability of legal complications.
Anyway, ever since I've heard of that title, always found it very compelling. I can get the album even if I would be hearing of Guns'N Roses for the first time or if I was without having any bits of Rock music intellect.
:2thumbsup:

I suggest digging up their earlier stuff, the Slash and Duff years. You cannot compare "Sweet Child o' Mine" with "Chinese Democracy" or "November Rain" with "Prostitution" (Actual song which I found alright).

Who said "compare" and who could dare to do that to Guns'N Roses classics, matey?

i listened to it, or at least the song "chinese democracy." its ok. it sounds more like a modern rock song than classic G n' R.
id give it a 6.5/10.
November 23rd, eh? So this means Duke Nukem Forever should be here for Christmas, right? ~D

This should be the entire thread, right here. I'm actually surprised this is coming out, I was convinced Chinese Democracy was just something Axl Rose made up to try and convince the rest of the world he wasn't washed up.

Stop reading my mind, you! :furious3:

Somebody posted the track Chinese Democracy (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q4QefMywIvk&feature=related) to Youtube, so you can have a listen for free. Sounds pretty standard stadium rock to my ears.
Oh, and dig Axl's plastic surgery (http://drinkthis.typepad.com/answer_this/2005/11/this_was_axl_ro.html#more).
