I'm still looking at laptops to buy (I'm pretty sure I'll buy it pretty soon). Right now I am stuck between 2:

ASUS G50Vt-X1: $1,249.99

Product Weight: 7.3 lbs.
Processor: Intel® Core™2 Duo Mobile 2.26GHz
Display Type: WXGA widescreen display with 1366 x 768 resolution (15.6")
System Memory (RAM): 4GB
Hard Drive: 320GB (7200 RPM)
Graphic Card: 512 MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS
1 Year Warranty

or

ASUS G50VT - A1: $1589.83

Weight: 6.5lbs
Processor: -Intel® T9400 45nm "Montevina" Core™2 Duo 2.53GHz w/6MB L2 On-die cache - 1066MHz FSB 35 watt
Display Type: 15.4" WSXGA+ "Glare Type" Super Clear Ultra Bright Glossy Screen (1680x1050)
Graphic Card: nVidia GeForce 9800M GS 512MB PCI-Express DDR3 DX10
System Memory (RAM): 4GB
Hard Drive: 2x 250GB (7200 RPM)
2 Year Internation Warranty 1 Year Accidental Damage Warranty

So basically, for $339.83, I get a processor upgrade from

Screen Resolution: 1366x768 (16:9 ratio) to 1680x1050 (16:10 ratio)
Processor: 2.26GHz to 2.53GHz
Hard Drive: 320 GB to 500 GB (2 x 250)
Warranty: 1 Year more "normal warranty" to 2 Years and 1 Year Accidental Damage
Weight: 15.6" and 7.3 lbs to 15.4" and 6.5 lbs

So.....which one should I buy? I'm at an impasse......

Quick question, too, is the change from 1366x768 to 1680x1050 pretty significant? Also, since 16:9 is a rarer resolution, does it have less game support than the more standard 16:10 ratio?

Always pick the one with the best battery. A doomsday-device is fun but if it only lasts you 1 or 2 hours.........

Well, they have the same battery and I am pretty sure that the battery life is almost identical

It seems as if both have a battery life under moderate nongaming situations at about 2 hours, ~20 minutes or so and about 40 minutes under heavy gaming

Then they are useless as a laptop why drag 2 hours around. Laptops aren't good gaming machines if they would be you could probably bake an egg on them.

Way too expensive for what you're getting.

Actually, this is about as cheap as you can get for 15 inchers with this type of power. Those 2 are priced pretty competetively even compared to 17 inchers

I would go for the latter.

Im running 16:10 and most modern games have the option for that. Even 800x600 (Diablo II Expansion) looks great on it.
