Death By Chocolate.
INGREDIENTS
1 (19.8 ounce) package brownie mix (I used a triple fudge chunk flavor)
2 (3.9 ounce) package instant chocolate pudding mix
2 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
3 (1.5 ounce) bar chocolate candy (I used crushed up Heath Bar...yummy!)
DIRECTIONS1. Prepare brownie mix according to package directions and cool completely. Let cool.2. Mix pudding according to package directions.3. In a glass punch bowl, layer the following in order: 1/2 of the brownies, crumbled; half of the pudding and one of the 8 ounce container of whipped topping. Repeat layers. Save the last toffee bar to crumble and sprinkle on top before serving.4. Refrigerate. Best if made the day before you serve it.

nice man, well forget thx givin but i love dessert all year round! other than the ones i ticked i love jam roly poly ( a suet based jam roll heated, very nice) spotted dick ( not as crude as it sounds! its a spongey raisan filled treat :) ) all of these of course are even better with some traditional thick custard poured over :yes:

I'm about to help my mom make one in a couple hours and I'd agree with you. There is nothing better than homemade, warm apple pie. Mmmm.
Pumpkin, cheesecake, Key Lime, etc are also very good.

Strangely, for me, Thanksgiving was never a dessert holiday. Turkey and stuffing is it. Everything else is taking up valuable stomach real estate.

I have to agree Gregoshi. I usually am totally stuffed and have a 2-3 hour break before even touching anything, and my favorite is either apple or pumpkin pie. While eating either one, I'll claim it's the best until I begin the other. :laugh4::2thumbsup:

Back when the family was getting together for Thanksgiving, it seemed our women would compete against each other on who could make the mostest and the yummiest foods, and they all specialized in desserts. We had an entire long table with nothing but, separate from the hors d'oeuvres table, which was separate from the sitting meal table. We gathered early in the day at grandma and grandpa's and did nothing but eat (well, the gals had fun making stuff of course), socialize and play card games until late at night. Then we'd tag team clean up, waddle home and try to sleep, heh.
Grandma was the undisputed champion (of course). The awesomest pumpkin pie imaginable (I don't really like pumpkin pie much, but I loved hers). Rhubarb and pecan pies; Boston cream and banana cream pies; chocolate and Angel's food cake; candied orange, lemon, and grapefruit peels; persimmon and divinity cookies. Pulled chocolatish toffee (we'd have preliminary toffee pull parties ahead of time where we'd all help pull the sticky stuff). Gawd, I'm puddling drool on my desk just remembering it all.
My mom tended towards the traditional pies--pumpkin, apple, and pecan. Her apple pie was awesome, but her pumpkin took second place to my Grandmother's. Oftentimes I could talk her into making my favorite, chocolate dream pie. It had a graham cracker crust with honey and almonds in it, the main filler was chocolate mousse, and it was topped with generous real whipped cream and sprinkled with Hershey's almond bars shavings on top. She also made AWESOME chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies for the Thanksgiving treat table.
Aunt Nancy made huckleberry and black berry pies, a variety of cookies, and these things called yum yums. They were a pan pie with a normal pie crust, again with almonds embedded, filled with creamy lemon custard, and again, topped with generous whipped cream. Yum, yum indeed.
Aunt Paula specialized in her ultimate chocolate cake. It's amazing how she could take so much pure chocolate and make it have a cake like texture, so dense and absolutely decadent. As with everything, I'd load up on real whipped cream when I ate it, to balance it out. Or vanilla ice cream. Of course, the best was both! They'd always called me when through whipping up the cream because I liked to lick the beaters clean.
Poor aunt Barb wasn't so talented in the food department, but did manage to replicate a lot of the above. The more the merrier for all us boys! Her paintings were her specialty.
I'm amazed my brother and I, and my cousins, managed to maintain slim profiles throughout all the holidays. I'm sure if we still did them like we used to, we'd all have big pot bellies like our dads, uncles, and grandpa. But it'd be worth it. Those were the dessert days, indeed.

Sweet Potato Pie, a great sweet southern tradition. When I first had it (I was 5 or so) I thought they had baked brown sugar into a solid form, it was soooo sweet and delicious. But my favorite dessert, the best dessert in my mind, is a good pumpkin pie.
Key Lime Pie is good during the summer, when it's hot and you want to cool off. Apple pie is for early fall or spring. Pumpkin pie is the fall/winter dessert of choice.
i hear pumpkin pie alot, though never tried it, i take it you add sugar and stuff? otherwise it would probably make a good savoury dish

It's a pumpkin based custard with spices in it. Instead of a pie crust on top you put whipped cream. One of my favorite deserts.

Pie rules, pumpkin, blueberry, custard, apple, etc.
We typically eat a big savory meal at one family and visit the next just for deserts.
Then slip quietly into a food coma.

Pumpkin pie is pulling ahead as it should!
Though I'd argue that those who put whipped cream on it are despoiling an already perfect dish.

When it comes to pies, pecan pie is first, followed closely by pumpkin. My favorite turkey day dessert is Senator Russell's sweet potato casserole (http://www.cdkitchen.com/recipes/recs/319/SenatorRusselsSweetPotato69020.shtml), essentially an orange colored heart attack.

The secret is in the vast quantities of sugar and butter. Normally, I don't really like sweet potatoes either. It's typical southern fare, I'm sure at some point someone has tried deep frying the whole mixture to boot.
As an aside, I'm wondering if Adrian II ever got around to trying turkey deep fried in peanut oil. :thinking:

Those two items are central to the economic well being of some parts of my state.
And they are delicious. ~;p
Especially fried.
