View Full Version : What annoyed you today?
Very simple topic. What annoyed you today? A thread in which to vent violations of pet peeves and other.
Me:
This guy who went out of his way to press the crosswalk button repeatedly despite the mass of people waiting on it. Why do that? We're already standing there and no doubt someone had already pressed the button! And pressing it over and over and over again will NOT make the light change faster!

We began football (proper football) practice today after school finished which lasts until 18:00. It was really a tryout, but I'm a 4 year varsity player so I have to put up with a bunch of idiots who can't pass the ball correctly. I also have to continue to do sprint after sprint because they can't make the times fast enough. Now THAT makes me mad....and very tired :embarassed::furious3:

I was having a pretty good day today. I had to give a presentation in one of my classes, so on a whim I dressed in a Hawaiian suit (Hawaiian shirt, suitjacket, suit pants, and sandals) and did fine. After my classes were done for the day I relaxed by, suit still on, putting on sunglasses, laying around, sipping lemonade, and listening to Jimmy Buffett while writing a paper. Life was good.
I moved around a bit, and when my Jimmy Buffett repetoire finished I switched to various other music, including "Echoes" by Pink Floyd, the full-length version. So about halfway through Echoes, people start complaining about the music and they tune it out by blasting non-Floyd music with more powerful speakers (edit for clarification: these were people out of their rooms and I was messing around with). Cue end of a good day.
So I find out that my floor doesn't appreciate good music and I can't play Echoes in all its loud glory anymore unless I'm the only one around or wearing headphones. A catastrophie of the highest order if there ever was one.

I was at the liquor store, they had all these gift sets with a bottle of whiskey and some glasses packed together. Annoying thing was I could only convince my self to buy one, and the bottle I wanted didn't have glasses. Came with a cigar case/flask combo that'll come in handy if I ever start smoking cigars I guess. Now I have to fight with myself not to go back and get the wild turkey gift pack.
I always think I'm not a sucker for marketing until I go into the liquor store

Well, first of all, my math professor decided that we should have two midterms AND a final for his course.
Naturally, the second midterm, which is going to be on Friday, is just one week before the Final, next Friday.
Of course, he has also decided to give us homework this week even though we're all studying for the 2nd midterm and final.
Even worse, this homework naturally will not be on the topics that will be tested on the 2nd midterm even though we're handing it in right after the 2nd midterm and not near the final.....

My maths is a litle hazy of late. But surely a 'mid'-term comes once, at the half-way point? Or is this merely another example of my language being corrupted?

Well ... last night it started to snow like hell here. So in the morning I had to spend some additional time to shovel snow from the sidewalk (I might add that half an hour later the truck that removed the snow from the street came by and cleared the street by moving the snow back on our sidewalk :wall:).
As I lost some time for the shoveling I had to take a later train to work - it turned out that due to the heavy snowing a tree fell on the tracks so no train was going downtown for a while (to add insult to injury, the earlier train that I would have taken normally was the last one to get through before the tree fell).
Considering the snow going by car was not an option either (traffic jam on the streets). So I got to work at noon to join a completely useless webex with a new vendor for a database we recently subscribed to - turns out the product looks rather semi-finished
I want to go home now...

Well, thats the general idea of the midterm, but my professor somehow turned it into a big test after the first half the course, a second big test after the course is done on the second half and then we all get a fun 3 hour huge final on the whole course......

Woke up at 4am and felt cold. Turned up the thermostat a few degrees and...no response. Checked the pilot on the gas furnace and it's out. Tried to relight but soon as the reset button is released the pilot goes out again. Conclusion: thermocoupling has probably gone bad *on a 7 year old system*; time for a $150+ service visit *just what I wanted for Christmas*. Outside temperature a less than balmy 30F; why does this never happen in the summer? ~;p

It only gets worse.:beatnik:
I had to go to the garage to get our car fixed (problem with the brakes).
On Tuesday, I usually start a bit later at work, so I got a rendez-vous today at 8.00 am. Last time I had to be there at 8.00 am, I was 30 minutes too late. It's normally a 5 minute drive, but I underestimated traffic jam, so this time, I left the house very early, only to find myself at the garage at 7.45 am :mean:
It took until 8.10 am before someone showed up at the garage :mean:
Ok, if they are quick, they can fix the car just in time and I'll be on time to go to work. Alas, the problem was a bit more complicated then first thought and the reparations will take an hour or two. Don't have time to wait that long, so I'll pick up the car in the evening (don't need it for work today anyway).
So, I hurried to catch the bus at 8.39 am and at 8.35 I was at the bus stop. It was cold as hell this morning and I had to pee urgently (too much coffee ). Alas, can't do my thing against a nearby tree, because the bus can arrive every minute.
Bus came through at 8.50 and I arrived 10 minutes too late at work :mean:
Must take the bus back to get back to the garage tonight, if I'm lucky I arrive just before they close, otherwise, I'll have to take the bus back home and have to go to the garage again, by bus, tomorrow morning to pick up the car before going to work.

Did not realise there was another question on the last page  So I didn't do it...
It is worth something like 4-6 marks ~:mecry:
6 marks off a total of 45 marks and I didn't even do that well on the rest of them... !!!
All is not lost however, because of my A*s from previous modules, I can still get a A* in total even if I get a B in the real thing! So getting a bad mark in the Mocks is not so bad... but still... not looking at the last page??? GAH!

I was riding in my usual fashion beside the highway here, where 2-3 trailer trucks often speed along.
One man, who was adorned with a mullet so large it could be seen from 300m behind the visor, saw that I was indeed riding my horse without saddle and bridle and conducting her with my legs.
He thought he could scare me by blasting his horn and swerving towards me.
Of course, he might have decided not to engage in such mockery, considering we were both upon a bridge, and he hurtling across with a large bullbar.
Well, I am proud of my mare, who withstood such a blast and nearmiss that we were almost tossed from the bridge by the mere hind draft without flinching - but nonetheless - I am somewhat annoyed with the driver..
