View Full Version : Creative Assembly The map for ships need to be 4 times the size of land battles
Has any one thought of the map size you will need for the naval battles. Say you have 20 74s they were on average 175 to 185 feet for the hull and add a extra 30 for the bow spirt. If all ship are in line of battle they need at least 30 to 40 feet between ships for safty. That means we will need atleast a 2 mile wide map just to set them up, not much less in moving and turning that line.

Or they could just make the ships 1/4 scale :P
I'm more concerned about how they'll handle the map boundaries. IG had this stupid thing that if the ships sailed off the small little map you simply lost the battle.
I hope they do something better here.

Naval maps are much, much bigger than land maps. And with map borders if a ship reaches them it won't be able to sail past it unless routing or withdrawing.

I think the battle maps are somthing like 3km - 5km x 3km - 5km. So I believe there might be enough room for naval battles.

I think you misremembered that information, Nex...

Excellent. Thanks for the confirmation. :2thumbsup:
Quick question: I think it's safe to say most of us are eager to fight battles on the scale of Trafalgar. Given that, are the naval maps large enough that multiple fleets can maneuver around without feeling overly crowded?
