I first came over this family when reading up on the origins on the modern bible. The name sounded familiar, and when I checked the indexes of some of my Rome books they pop up here and there from the time of Cæsar and over the next few hundred years. I've even seen some of my characters in EB carrying the name.

I'm still undecided on the bible aspect, and I have no interest in going into a religious debate. But I find it interesting that there could have been some kind of "shadow government" under the Emperors, like the industrialists of today, and that the Piso family could be one of them. I've heard they can even trace their genes to some of the powerful families of today.

So what do we know about these people? Are there evidence of factions influencing the Emperors from behind the scenes? I know an Emperors fate was often decided by the Praetorians, and their will was usually a matter of payment, so I don't think it's far fetched. Cæsar's father in law was a Piso and he was reputedly in possession of one of the most impressive libraries in Rome, so they were no doubt a knowledgeable group in a time of ignorance. Another fascinating aspect imo.

Since I saw their name in EB I thought there would be somebody on this board who could enlighten me further.
